![]() Delta Premier Toastmasters will conduct a Speechcraft March 6 through April 24. A program designed to teach speaking skills to members and non-members alike, our Speechcraft will be held for eight consecutive Thursdays, replacing the regular club and officer meetings. All club members are urged to particpate, either by giving educational presentations, fulfilling meeting roles, and/or serving as mentors for the Speechcraft participants. The cost of the Speechcraft will be $20 for each non-Toastmaster participant. Should the Speechcraft student choose to join Delta Premier Toastmasters after completing the program, this fee may be applied towards a membership. Our goal is to attract between 5 and 10 Speechcraft participants, and we hope many of them will choose to join our club. New Toastmasters members who have not yet completed their first three speeches may also choose to be Speechcraft students, and the speeches they make during the Speechcraft will count towards their CTMs. Each Speechcraft session will contain at least one educational presentation given by an experienced Delta Premier Toastmaster member. The participants will be introduced to Table Topics at the first meeting, and will have the opportunity to deliver up to six CTM-type speeches; as well as serving as an evaluator for the first three. In order for this Speechcraft to succeed, we need 100% commitment from our membership! Sign up today for a role, and start recruiting participants! Joseph Washington was a featured speaker at the 2002 Personal Power and Business Expo held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in November.   His speech was titled The Power of Focus. Joseph did an outstanding job and the tape of his speech was the most requested. The event sponsored over 100 seminars, workshops and exhibitors for 5,000 attendees. The event helps to benefit FuturePoint, a charity that facilitates workshops to help young people achieve personal, academic, professional, and social excellence. Duane Phillips has published his first book. The title is Learning the Truth. The book chronicles Duane's thought process as he weaves through the trappings of the Christian culture.
As the back cover of his book states, "This is a book that reflects the heart of a man ready to walk away from God to escape the spiritual traps he was in, and how God showed him he was already free." Be sure to congratulate Duane on his accomplishment and ask "Where can I get an autographed copy of your book?"
