WHAT'S ON THE MENU?

   T
his is the time of year when we indulge in holiday feasts and lots of treats. But, we need to put more than turkey, dressing and all the fixins' on our plates. Half the club year is over and Delta Premier Toastmasters have goals to meet.
So... pile your plates high with "food" from Delta Premier's Success Buffet. Start off with guests and new members. Then get one or more of the CTMs, ATMs, CLs, or ALs. Top that off with a Mentee or two. There are also special treats, called Training and Reports, for the club officers.
Feel free to help yourself. There is plenty for everyone and nothing's more gratifying than Delta Premier's nutritious "food" to help us stimulate our minds, build self-confidence, and grow tall as mentors and leaders!

IS THAT PREPOSTION NECESSARY?

In everyday speech, we fall into some bad habits, using prepositions where they are not necessary. Some of these words can be eliminated altogether, but we must be especially careful not to use them in formal, academic composition.

  • He wouldn't let the dog get inside of the car. [or use "in"]
  • Where did everyone go to?
  • Put the plant in back of the couch. [use "behind" instead]
  • The lamp fell off of the table.
  • She met up with her friends at the mall.
  • She threw the candy wrapper out of the window.
  • Where is your mother at?
