How long has the chapter been around?

Our chapter was chartered over 75 years ago.

How many members are there in Chicago NW Suburban Alumnae Chapter?

We have approximately 35 dues paying members for 08-09

How many alumnae are in your area?

There are over 650 alumnae living in our area. We encourage all alumnae to renew their ties with the Fraternity!

What cities do your members live in?

Top 5 cities where alumnae live (% total)

Arlington Heights (14%)

Barrington (14%)

Palatine (10%)

Schaumburg (6%)

When and where do you meet?

We meet monthly from September to May in a member's home. We typically meet the first Tuesday of the month. Most of our meetings are in Arlington Heights, Barrington or Palatine areas.

How long do meetings last?

Meetings run from 7pm to approximately 9:30pm. The first 20 minutes of each meeting are for socializing, hors d'oeuvres, wine, coffee and announcements. We normally do not have a scheduled program lasting over an hour, so there is amply time for socializing after the program as well . Executive board meets separately to conduct chapter business. In other words, we don't take up your social time with mundane voting on every issue!

Do you have programs every month?

Some months are devoted to pure fun and food and drink, while other do have a program involved. Additionally, we have a holiday cocktail party in December.

What types of programs do you offer?

We provide a variety of programs on topics of interest to our members. This includes everything from how to invest you money to wine tasting. We celebrate Founders Day every year in March with all the local alumnae and collegiate chapters.

What activities do you do with collegians?

Currently two of our members are serving as Advisors to Delta Nu (Northern IL). If you'd like to serve as an advisor to this or any other Region 5 chapter, please contact the Region 5 director. Due to our distance from the local collegiate chapters, we normally only get together at Founders Day. We do encourage all area collegians to contact our chapter if they need assistance with recruitment or Anchor Splash®

How much of a time commitment is it to be a member?

You can be as involved as you like. There is no minimum number of service hours required. If you can join us for all events or only just one, we are happy to have you!

How much does it cost to join?

Membership Levels for 2006-2007:

$38 Pi Alpha
$48 Hannah
$50 Bronze, Pink, and Blue
$75 Cream Colored Rose
$100 Anchor
Remember: 50+ year alumnae (initiated in 1958 or earlier) are exempt from paying per capita dues. All other alumnae are required to pay their $18.50 per capita once per year either to Delta Gamma directly or through Chicago NW chapter. Forty percent of the Fraternity’s General Fund comes from alumnae dues. Your generous support helps Delta Gamma continue to provide educational, leadership, philanthropic and sisterhood opportunities to women and to “do good” for those unable to do so for themselves.

Can I attend an event if I have not paid dues?

Yes! All Delta Gammas are invited to attend any chapter event throughout the year. We encourage and welcome your involvement at whatever level you are able. Time, talent and treasure are all needed to keep us strong, and we know that not everyone has all three all the time! Dues are encouraged if you continue to join us.

How do I pay my dues?

By check. Please send an email to our treasurer for her home address

How can I get a directory of all alumnae in the area?

Directories are available hard copy or electronically to dues paying members.

I'm a recent graduate, aren't alumnae chapters for "older" alumnae?

Not so! We have singles, newlyweds, mothers with young children, executives, stay-at-home moms, recent grads and more. There is something for everyone! The average age in our chapter is 45, but we have many members under 30! We pride ourselves on being a diverse chapter.

Did you members all go to the same school?

No. In fact, we represent a variety of chapters from many states

How do I find out about events?

A newsletter is sent out twice a year to all alumnae

I'm on the DG email list. How do I unsubscribe?

Email Marie
