Ruth Carmichael Nichols:
James and Mabel's Second Child



Ruth Onalee Carmichael was born in 1915. She was the second child of James and Mabel Carmichael. In April 1940, she married Sidney Danforth Nichols. Their marriage resulted in two sons: William Jeffrey Nichols (Jeff), born May 21, 1942 and James Michael (Mike), born August 2, 1946.

Ruth died in 1979, and her obituary reads: "NICHOLS, RUTH C. On April 2, 1979 at Grande'ville Home for Adults, aged 64 years. She is survived by her 2 sons, William J. (Jeff) and his wife, Barbara of Geneseo, NY and James Michael (Mike) Nichols; 2 grandchildren; 2 brothers, James J. and George S. Carmichael; her sister, Mrs. Jean C. Marquardt; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Cass Funeral Home, 1429 West Ridge Rd. (opp. Stone Rd.) Tuesday evening between 7-8 and Wednesday between 2-4 and 7-8, where funeral services will take place Wednesday evening at 9 o'clock. The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Heart Assoc., 797 Elmwood Ave., 14620, or to the charity of your choice."
