George and Leota Carmichael's 4th Daughter: Mary Ruth Carmichael
Mary Ruth Carmichael was the 4th child of George and Leota Carmichael. She died as a child, only 2 years old. Diane LeClair and her siblings always believed that Mary died from eating foreign berries outside, and used her fate as a cautionary tale to keep others from eating unknown plants. However, Mary died from hepatitis. Her obituary reads: "Mary Ruth Carmichael, 2, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Carmichael of West Lake Road, Conesus, died on Thursday, August 7 following a brief illness. She was born on December 22, 1949. Besides her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Georgia, Joanne and Paula; her grandparents, Mrs. O.E. Becker of N. Cohocton and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Carmichael of Rochester and of Reservoir Road, Geneseo; aunts and uncles. Private funeral services were held Saturday afetrnoon from the Findlay Funeral Home in Geneseo. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Groveland."
