George Sleggs' Mother:
Elizabeth Wright Sleggs

Elizabeth Wright was born in England in 1829. She married William Sleggs in 1848 and immigrated to the Geneseo, New York area in 1851. They owned 150 acres of land and had post office delivery from Lakeville. Perhaps the "Sleggs Landing" sign we've all noticed near Conesus Lake actually marks where William and Elizabeth owned land??

They had a total of 7 children: Eliza, Mary Jane, John, George, "Lilla"/Elizabeth W., Charles and Winifred.

William Sleggs died in 1872. By the 1880 Federal Census, Elizabeth was a widow, the Head of Household and farm owner. In the 1910 Census, she was 80 years old and living with her son Charles and his wife Matilda. Her year of death is unknown.
