next day's entry
I was under the impression that today was the last day of classes, but my friend Chris just informed me that it isnt! I told him, "How dare you ruin my happiness!?" No, actually, Im glad he told me because that would have been bad not to go to my last Literature class we have tomorrow.
I had a great weekend. On Friday night, I called Amy, the Mexican girl that Becky introduced me to, who she is friends with. I really had fun with her on Tuesday and wanted to at least let her know that I was still interested in doing something if she wanted to later on. So, when I called she told me she had just been thinking about how she didnt have my #, and that a friend, Monica, was coming over and they were going to rent a movie and eat ice cream and that if I was interested, I could come. I didnt have anything else to do, and it seemed fun, so I said, "Sure! How do I get there?" Getting there- thats always the issue here. I guess if I had actually taken the right bus, that would have been weird. I took the #4, which she told me, but naturally, there are 2 different #4s here and nobody has the insight to label them A and B. Anyhow, it didnt have too far to go before it was done with its route, so I didnt lose too much time. The right one was right there getting ready to go, and he didnt charge me, either, so that was nice. I got on it and got to her house. I got there too late for the ice cream, but we did watch a movie. We watched that Disney cartoon movie, the one about the prince who got turned into a llama? If anyone knows the name of it, let me know because I dont remember the Spanish name. It was kind of new, though. It was actually pretty good. I was under the impression that all the new Disney movies sucked, but thats not true. It was witty and the storyline was cute. Also, it was in Spanish without subtitles and I understood really well. Childrens movies are a great learning tool.
Anyhow, it was only like 10:30, 11 when the movie ended, but we were all really tired and sleepy. I guess it was because there was a storm going on and the house was so comfortable. So, she asked if I wanted to spend the night and I really did. I didnt feel like trying to get back home. So I spent the night and slept really good. I felt like I was in a real house! Like an American house!
The next day Amy asked me if I wanted to go with her to this education conference. Her whole family is teachers, including her (she is studying to teach) and she said that the conference was free, plus we got diplomas. I thought it would be cool to have a diploma showing that I participated in an education conference while I was here. The topic of the conference was teaching strategies for teaching English to Spanish-speaking students, AND it was all in English!! Also, not only were there diplomas, but the conference was in a really nice hotel and they gave free bags (big bags, too!), and pens, and notepads, and coffee and cookies! Hehe. ʹm being silly, now. I had a really good time, though, because it was free, and I SPOKE ENGLISH! Hehe. Also, afterwards, I went with Amys family to the mall and we ate out in Pizza Hut. This was around 2-3 p.m. When we got home, we all went back and took a really big nap! I slept for about 2 hours and then left for home. I really didnt want to leave. Also, Amys mother seemd to like me. I helped her find some info on the Denver Public Schools. They are all moving to Denver in the summer, and Amy is so excited. She loves the US (she lived there for high school). Anyway, I really hope I get to go over there again before I leave.
Well, looks like Im getting short on space. I suppose I will talk about Sunday tomorrow. Sunday was interesting, to say the least. Sunday also spilled over into this morning, too. I will stop teasing and just give info tomorrow! Bye!
