next day's entry
Funny, I had to look at my calendar to figure out the date. I had just written down what I needed to do in my calendar, and I had written in in last Thursday's date. I am seriously behind! I can't help it, though- time is going so fast! It will be Thursday tomorrow. I am really liking this no classes on Wednesday thing, and one class on Tuesday.
Well, honestly, not too much is going on. The main thing I guess is my good news. Guess what!? My family is going to Acapulco this weekend for vacation and they invited me to go along with them! Of course I said yes! This will be so much fun! Of course, provided there are no earthquakes. Hehe. Inside joke. Let me let everyone in. My parents came to Mexico on vacation in 1985, and they were in the earthquake that happened then. It was a really big earthquake and they were in Acapulco. It was on my Dad's company trip, so a lot of people they knew were there with them. The company made t-shirts that had some kind of slogan related to the earthquake on it; I don't remember what it is. Anyhow, I was just thinking about that when they asked me about Acapulco.
This morning I went with my friend, Edgar Verazaluce, to the movies. We saw behind Enemy Lines. I did not enjoy it. The silly thing is that I just picked out a movie and didn't really know what it was about. Had I known that it was a flat out war movie, I probably wouldn't have gone. Oh, well. We still had fun. We went to a different movie theater than the one I went with my family, but it was the same line, Cinemex. The theaters are really nice. Anyhow, on Wednesdays, it is half-price. Actually, it may be more than half-price, but all I know is that it is cheap. It is 20 pesos, which is the equivalent of 2 US dollars. Talk about ridiculous!
Edgar is Puertorican and was born here in Mexico. He just told me this today. All this time, I thought that he was Mexican. Well, I just met him at Zimbalay's on Thursday, but still, it's weird when someone tells you something that is completely than what you thought. When I asked him how did he like Mexico and Mexicans, he said he was lived here since he was 2 or 3, so he said he's practically Mexican! I thought that was funny. The good thing is that he doesn't speak any English, so I'm forced to speak Spanish. Actually, he says a few words, but nothing that you can have a conversation with. I learned so much just talking with him today. Well, no SO much, but you know...
He was telling me that his mother speaks Spanish and English really well, but he never learned English. That always amazes me when people say that, because I beleive that if I had the talent of being completely fluent in two languages, I would try my best to make sure my kids learned them both, too. I've already told Charles that he better get ready, because if I get good enough in Spanish, that's the goal. Charles knows no Spanish and always liked French. He didn't continue in it, though.
Well, I need to go. Speaking of Charles, he is going to call tonight. I called him briefly earlier today and only had like a minute on the card. Have I ever talked about the payphones here? Remind me to do that. They are really nice. I'll elaborate another day!
