I am currently in the process of trying to change my airline ticket. I used STA Travel to book it, and appreciate the cheap fare; however, I wish that changing the date of your plane ticket were a bit more straightforward. It seems to me that they are missing a few things on their webpage, one being a direct link to change your airline ticket. I gave up, and opted to just email them and ask. I dont know if I mentioned it earlier, but I found out that my exams end earlier than I thought, so I have the chance to go home 5 days early, and to change the student ticket its only $25. I think thats worth it. Heck, Id probably spend that much money or more if I hung around for five extra days. Plus, I have things back at home that need to be taken care of, especially before I whisk myself off to the beach to spend the summer working and staying with Charles.
This weekend was great. On Saturday I went with Allegra, well, Allegra went with me to see the curandero lady. We had to take a bus to this town nearby called Cuaultla and from there a bus to this town called Temoac. From there we had to take a taxi to a district called Amayuca and then to a town called Popotlan. I believe my backyard is bigger than Popotlan. Anyhow, once we arrived there, we asked a couple of people in the desolated town how we could arrive to the Seora Hermelinda Rosales house and were given some instructions. There was a shady path that led to her house, which was about 15 minutes into the woods. When we finally got to her house, it had taken about 3 hours to arrive (we were keeping track because Allegra had to get back in time to meet her boyfriend that night). So, we ask some little children who we see around the house if she was home, and of course, after all that work, she had gone out and wasnt due back for another 3 hours. We just didnt have the time to wait, so decided that we would go back later.
Honestly, I think we were really proud that we had done all of that. I know I was! I had called the doctor who spoke to us in my class on Thursday and never heard back from him. Im kinda glad I did because we were able to find the ladys house on our own, without him assiting us. That was the main reason I didnt want to do it- even though he seemed reputable, I wasnt too motivated by the idea of having some man I dont know come with me way out into some isolated place. At least now I know how to get there. Allegra is really curious about this lady now and wants to go back.
Sunday was church as usual and then afterwards I met two friends of Beckys from here, two really nice girls, well, ladies- 23 and 27 years old is not a girl. Anyhow, one suggested a really cool place for lunch and of course, we said sure. It was sooo cool! We went to this little town nearby called, I believe, Santa Maria. It is practically in Cuernavaca, but still considered another town. Anyhow, you follow this path for nearly 25 minutes into the mountains. It is very cool and has bridges (very handmade), streams, lots of tropical trees- just a very scenic place. Finally, you arrive to this restaurant that serves trout. There is a trout pool with fresh trout that they cook. I ordered a trout hamburger. It was okay. I am glad I ordered it though, because Becky did not like her fish and from the looks of it, I wouldnt have, either. It was cooked in aluminum foil, roasted or something. Anyhow, I know it was, but it didnt look all that cooked and the skin still shined. It looked kinda mushy and just not appealing at all. One of the other girls ordered hers fried, and it looked better, but certainly wasnt Coatetelco fish! Anyhow, I was happy because it was kinda expensive to order that and I would have been disappointed. Still, this place is too cool. If you come here, you absolutely HAVE to see it. I will be putting up some directions on my suggestions page, whenver I decide to put that up! Soon, I hope!
