The Delhi Dolphins Personal Triumphs
At the Gold Championships, 2005
The Delhi Dolphins Swim Team has competed in their last meet for the 2004 � 2005 season. Three swimmers from the team went to the Gold Championships Meet, which is also known as the Junior Olympics, held on 03/18 � 03/20 at RPI in Troy.
Brandon, an 8 year old from Bovina, swam his second best time in his career as a Delhi Dolphin in the 50 yard free style with the time of 0:50.24. It is a great accomplishment for such a young swimmer.
Chandler, a 12 year old from Delhi, qualified for a total of 7 events. She swam best times in 6 out of the 7 events and placed tenth in the 200 yard breast stroke with a personal best time of 03:02.8 and ninth in the 50 yard free style with a personal best time of 0.28.33.
Jonathan, a 14 year old from Delhi, qualified for 4 events. He swam best times in all 4 of the events and placed fifth in the 200 yard breast stroke with a personal best time of 02:35.5 and eighth in the 100 yard breast stroke with a personal best time of 01:11.2.
The Delhi Dolphins Swim Team is coached by John Kolodziej III of SUNY Delhi. �Coach K�, as he is called by his swimmers, commented on ��the remarkable improvement I�ve seen in my swimmers this season. Next season, we hope to see a few more of these talented young swimmers at the Junior Olympics.�
The Delhi Dolphins Executive Board remarked that sending these kids to the JO�s was in part made possible by grants and contributions of the O�Connor Foundation and several other local businesses. Angelo�s Family Restaurant, Creative Tax Planning Associates, Delaware Bulldozing Corp., Decker Direct, Delhi Animal Hospital, Dubben Brothers, Sunny Dale Florist, Utsayantha Data Systems and Wood�s Grocery, all donated funds, goods and services this season. �We are very appreciative� said one board member, �It teaches the kids about our fantastic community, and we tell them some day they will be able to do the same for the next generation.� The team is comprised of children from Delaware County and at the moment consists of kids from Delhi, Bovina, Meridale, Roxbury, South Kortright and Walton.
