I was born July 22, 1936 on Barber Road in the Town of Stockton which is located in Chautauqua County in Western New York State. I was raised, schooled, married, divorced and raised 3 great kids in the old home town and loved every minute of it. In the winter of 1995 however,I went to work at the store I owned, plowed the driveway, shoveled the sidewalk and decided that I did not want to deal with another Western New York winter. In May of 1998, I sold my business and went off to visit the kids and friends. I ended up at my sisters place in Bostic, NC and she invited me to spend the winter with her. I ran across a house I liked, bought it and went back north for the summer of 99 and put my house up for sale. By October I had sold my home of 35 years and moved to Bostic, NC. The people here have made me feel welcome and a part of their community and Ilove living here.Since 1995, I have been working on my family tree which has become my hobby. I have spent countless hours going through records, microfilm and old newspapers documenting events of my ancestors. Along the way I have made many new frends and met some interesting people. That is why I did a take off on "The Far Side" with my website name. As my ancestors family name of Farrar is sometimes pronounced as Farr. I hope to add some Geneology things to this page in the future.
