These are the two families from which my parents came. On the left, are Mariana Jastrzembska and Grzegorz Sadowski, known as Mary and George Sadowski.  Mary was born December 8, 1877 in Skierniewice, Poland. George was born in 1872 in Miestkeno, Poland. George came to the United States in 1901 and worked in the coal mines in Wilkes-Barre, PA to get money to bring his family over. In 1904, Mary and their oldest daughter, Valentina, came over to join George in Wilkes-Barre. Around 1909, the family moved to Dunkirk, NY and then before 1920, moved to Forestville, NY.
On the right, are Fannie Farrar and William John Draker. known as John and Fannie Baker. Wait a minute you say, Farrar and Draker, where did the Baker come from? Well my Grandfather who I will from now on refer to as John Baker ran away from home in Hamilton, Canada sometime around the age of 9. He was born in Colden, NY so he made his way to the US and ended up in Ellicottville, NY. There he was taken in and raised by a family named Gogel and he went by the name of John William Baker. Fannies grandparents came to the United States from Lancashire, England sometime around 1830 and settled in the Portland, NY area.
