| Derrick came into the the scene by accident it seems, if it wasn't for Flaires unique gift of landing herself in difficult situations, then they most likely would have never crossed paths, and Derrick wouldn't be a part of our lives. For once something good came out of one of Flaires " incidents" and Derrick played the role of hero. Derrick Burns , prior to meeting the "Delainey Girl" had been a passerby. Staying a couple days at most in towns then hitch hiking his way to his next destination. He's an orphan, rather then a run away, His parents Jon and Maria were killed along with his younger sister BriAnne in a multiple collison. Derrick wasn't in the car. The night before he dreamt of such a crash and refused to go along , attempting to convince his parents to delay the annual winter trip proved hopeless. they left anyway , leaving Derrick with a hug and kiss goodbye and a promise of a phone call on Christmas day. It never came of course, in fact at exactly 11:20 pm December 24th 1994, Derrick swears he heard their screams and felt their terror. He was in tears even before the phone call came to tell him they were gone. He already knew. He was 16 when it happened , with no other known relatives and rather then being placed in a home with strangers he took to the road and didn't turn back. Some say that once Embraced life goes down hill. It certainly gets more interesting. But for Derrick life got better . With Jacobs help he is able to understand his ability and develop new ones, and not only that with out this twist in fate he would have never have met Raina the woman he loves the women he hopes to marry . For these two it really is going to eternity. |
