| General Rules | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| School begins at 9:00 a.m. School ends at 3:30 p.m. No running on the blacktop or sandbox areas. Running is permitted only on the grassy part of the playground. No chase or tag games allowed. Rough-housing and play fighting often lead to injury; therefore, children who engage in such activity will be disciplined. Students are expected to use MODEL skills to resolve problems. Such things as fighting, hitting, kicking, pushing, and/or verbal abuse are never acceptable. All students are to respond immediately to bells and whistles as well as any other directions from any adult supervisor. When the bell rings, STOP playing, STOP throwing balls, etc. and line-up immediately in your designated area. Candy and gum do not belong at school. Eating is permitted in designated meal sections and designated snack areas only. All first, second, and third graders will stay on the north side of the playground. All fourth, fifth, and sixth graders will stay on the south side. The double yellow line divides the playground. Students may not bring personal items or toys from home, including such things as: electronic games, skateboards, scooters, audio equipment, tape recorders, baseball hats, hardballs, footballs, basketballs, trading cards, pagers, and other play things. Staff and students will treat one another with respect and dignity. Students are to be in designated areas and will not be out of class without appropriate permission or passes. Students are expected to come to school on time each day prepared to learn. Students should comply with the District mandatory policy on the dress code. Baggy pants, professional logos, hats (other than the Newmark cap), backless shoes, thongs, halter-tops, spaghetti straps, are not allowed. Students will not bring soft drinks to school unless it is for a classroom party. Water bottles are not allowed on playgrounds unless students are participating in P.E. No other drinks (Gatorade, etc.) are allowed on the playground or in the class. Students will eat snacks at recess time at the snack table at the end of the B Wing. None of the other tables are to be used by students during recess time unless an aide or teacher are monitoring those students. There are no snacks to be eaten at lunch time. No snacks will ever be eaten on the playground. Pencils and pends are not allowed on the playground. |

| All children who go home in private vehicles will be walked in lines to F Street (behind the school) near the playground. Please drive carefully and slowly. Kids who walk home EAST of Newmark will also walk in their lines to F Street. Walkers who go WEST of Newmark will walk in lines to the front of the school on Third Street. If parents or older siblings are picking up the students, please wait on the grass area in front of the school near the flag pole. Bus students will walk in their lines to the bus loading areas. Parking is prohibited across the street from the school. The Highway Patrol and School Police do issue tickets. |
