Introduction
You are on your way to discovering the
amazing world of the dairy cow. Smell the fresh morning air as you head for the
barn to greet our cow friends and learn all about the gifts they give to
us.
The Task
Top
- Pick a cow to be your friend from the
cow bank.
- Name products that come from your
cow.
- Look at a map to
see what state your cow comes from.
- Visit a dairy farm on the
web.
- Draw your cow and label the parts you
know.
- Use a Venn Diagram to compare your cow to another animal or compare two different types
of dairy cows.

Resources

farm on line or as a field

The Process
Top
- You will need to select one type of
cow to be your friend.
- You will be finding where your cow lives
in the United States on the
map.
- You will also design your own cow according to what you have learned from the web
about the spots, colors, markings on a cow using a cow outline.
- You will also use the
United States map to record the states where you could find a dairy
cow.

Evaluation
Top
- You will need to finish the steps that
are listed in the Process in order to be evaluated.
- The teacher will also evaluate your
knowledge gained about where cows/dairy farms can be found in the United
States through your markings on the United States map.
- A total evaluation will be made and a
grade (happy face) will be given when all steps of the Process have been
completed.

Conclusion
Top
You should now have an idea of how a dairy
farm works from start to finish and many of the products that come from our
friend the cow. You should also be very familiar with the dairy states within
the United States.
