Chapter 87: Cup Practice for the Subway 400 @ California Raceway
When Jr got to his garage stall Tony Jr was waiting for him.
�Hey Tony Jr,� Jr said. �Sorry that you were waiting for me.�
�Its ok,� Tony Jr assured him. �Steve Hmiel told me all about the fact that you needed Shane for something.�
�Yes well lets just say that I wanted to talk to him about something and lets leave it at that,� Jr told Tony Jr. �You may find out in the future but ya never know cuz. It depends if I feel I need to ask you about it.�
�Ok,� Tony Jr said.
�So is the car ready for practice?� Jr asked.
�Yes it is,� Tony Jr answered.
�Then what are we waiting for?� Jr started. �Lets get started.�
�Ok,� Tony Jr said.
So Jr gets in the car and gets suited up and goes out for race practice #1. Then practice begins. Jr ran a couple laps then said, �The car is very loose in the corners.�
�Ok bring it in and we�ll tighten it up,� Tony Jr told him.
�10-4,� Jr said. So Jr brings the car in and the #8 team worked on the car and then Jr went back out on to the track. After a few laps out there he called to Tony Jr and let him know how the car was. �Its snug now going in the corner yet coming off its tight. Is there anyway you can get rid of the tight but keep the snug?�
�Yes,� Tony Jr assured him. �Bring the car back in and we can make some more adjustments.�
�10-4,� Jr said. Then Jr brings in the car and the team made some more adjustments. Then he went back on to the track. After a couple laps Jr reported how the car was running. �Well the set-up is very good. I like the car and how it feels Tony Jr.�
�Wanna bring it in and quit practice?� Tony Jr asked.
�Sure,� Jr answered. So Jr brings the car in.
�I�m glad that you like the feel of the car,� Tony Jr commented. �If you need any help with your plan I am here for you.�
�I may need your help and may not,� Jr told him. �I�ll just have to ask Robby on one part of it.�
�Ok,� Tony Jr. �Just let met know if you need me or not.�
�Will do,� Jr assured him. �I�m gonna ask Robby right now.�
�Ok,� Tony Jr said.
So Jr goes down to Robby�s stall. When Jr got there Robby was still on track. So Jr waited for Robby to get back to the garage. 10 minutes later Robby came into the garage. Then Robby got out of the car and saw Jr was waiting for him.
�Hey Jr,� Robby said.
�Hey Robby,� Jr said. �I just want to ask you a quick question. Do you think I�ll need help during the Busch race with that plan because Tony Jr would like to help us out.�
�Remember how we said your carrying the walkie talie for us well why don�t you get Tony Jr to carry the other one cause you can trust him?� Robby suggested.
�Ok,� Jr accepted.
�Like he stays in the garage and if something goes wrong he can get the crews together and they can get you and the others out of trouble,� Robby added.
�Ok I will let him know that,� Jr assured Robby.
�Yeah,� Robby said. �Like right after happy hr were having a quick meeting, getting all set-up and then you�ll go meet with Jeff and Jimmie with the others that are joining you.
�Ok,� Jr said.
�Well I�ll see ya then,� Robby said. �Bye!�
�Ok bye Robby,� Jr said. Then Jr headed back to his stall and let Tony Jr know what Robby said.
�Ok I�ll be at the meeting,� Tony Jr assured Jr.
�Ok,� Jr said.
