Chapter 81: Post-Race of the Daytona 500
When Mikey went to victory lane he saw his crew there with Amanda. He gave everybody a quick hug and a added kiss to Amanda.
Back to the broadcast booth Mike said, �We are going to head down to victory lane with Marty who�s with your race winner.�
�And your Daytona 500 winner is Michael Waltrip,� Marty told the fans. �Michael tell us how you won in those last laps.�
�Well its all about team work,� Mikey assured Marty.
�Did you think that you could get by Harvick that late in the race?� Marty asked.
�Yea,� Mikey answered. �We had the best car out there today and we did it!�
�Any addition comments from are Daytona 500 winner?� Marty questioned.
�I want to thank my sponsors: Napa, Coca-Cola, Dominos, etc,� replied Mikey.
�Alright now lets go to Ashley who�s with your second place finisher,� Marty said.
�What a great run you had today,� Ashley started the interview off. �What happened at the end of the race?�
�Well what happened is we lost the race off pit road and then when we were racing out there late in the race I couldn�t get by Michael and I didn�t want to leave Michael totally out by himself by going with Harvick so I just took second,� Jr explained.
�Ok,� Ashley said. �Good luck next week in California. Lets go to Mat who is with the 3rd place finisher.�
�And I�m with Kevin Harvick,� Matt told the fans. �How�d you lose that race at the end?�
�My car just got tight and Mikey passed me,� replied Kevin.
�Did ya see it coming?� Matt asked.
�No,� Kevin answered.
�Alright lets go to Ashley who�s with the 4th place finisher,� Matt said.
�Robby what happened at the end?� Ashley asked.
�Well the last pit stop we had a mistake and it took that whole last run to make it all the way back to the front,� Robby answered.
�Ok how was your car anyways?� Ashley wondered.
�Real good,� replied Robby.
�Good luck next week,� Ashley wished Robby. �Lets go up to the booth.�
�Lets take a look at the finishing order,� Mike said. They look over the finishing order and the standings. �Lets go to the Hollywood Hotel and they will close out the show.�
�And like yesterday were in victory lane,� Jeff started it off.
�What a great race we had today,� Chris commented.
�An excellent race indeed,� Jeff agreed. �On a rating of 1 to 10 I�d give it a 10.�
�I will also give it a 10,� Chris agreed with Jeff.
�Glad to see Mikey won also,� Jeff continued. �And hey at least I�m not getting soaked today.�
�Right,� Chris agreed.
�Or maybe not,� Slugger changed the plans. He then soaks Jeff with Gatorade.
�Wow what a awesome day it is,� Jeff comments. �I even get soaked from Mikey�s crew.�
�Yep and I don�t get soaked,� Chris added. �Thanks for joining us on fox. Our winner today was Michael Waltrip. We will see you next week in California.�
After they went off air Jeff Hammond reminded all the pit reporters when the meeting was.
