Chapter 6: Ashley’s Interview
The next morning the girls went to Jr and Mikey room but they already left to the track. The girls ran to the track and in to the garage and they found JR and Mikey talking.
“Good Morning Jr and Mikey.” The Girls said.
The boys turned around. “Good Morning.” The boys said.
“Were just talking about the track for this morning.” Jr said. “Oh Ashley, do you want to do the interview now? The practice is almost over.”
“Ok then.” Ashley said.
Tony Eury then came over. “You ready to make a few more laps jr?” He said.
“Yes I am.” Jr said.
“Then let’s go.” Tony Eury said. So, Jr went to do some laps around the race track then he returns to the garage.
“How's it now?” Tony Eury said after Jr came back in.
“It running a little better then before.” Jr said.
“Loser or tighter or is it something different?” Tony Eury said.
“It was a little bit tighter.” Jr said.
“Better go through the book and find something better.” Tony Eury Jr said. “Maybe the same setup from 2002 since that was working awesome.” Jr agreed as Tony Eury Jr. then ran off and before they could go back out, practice ended. JR was looking for Ashley for his interview with her.
Then he finds her and tells Ashley: “Since practice ended, we can do the interview now.”
“Ok then.” Ashley replies. “Where do you want to do it?”
“Let’s do it back at the hotel.” Jr says.
“Ok then.” Ashley says.
They then walked back to the garage together. They saw that Amanda and Mikey were walking back to the hotel to get some lunch for themselves. NASCAR's president Mike Helton was looking for jr and Mikey. He decided to go to the garage to see if they were there. JR and Ashley were ready to leave when Mike Helton need to see jr. They started to leave the garage, when Mike Helton came up to Jr.
“Jr, I need to talk to you and Mikey.” Mike Helton said. “Where’s Mikey?”
“Mikey just left to head back to the hotel.” Jr said.
“Can you go get him?” Mike Helton asked.
“Sure.” Jr said as he and Ashley started running to the hotel to getting Mikey. Then Jr spotted Mikey. “Mike Helton needs to see us.”
“Ok.” Mikey said.
As they ran back to the trailer, Jr looked at Mikey. “I wonder why he wants us.” Jr said
“I don’t know.” Mikey said.
“Probably about us dominating the restrictor plates.” Jr said. Jr and Mikey went to the NASCAR trailer and then to Mike’s office. Mike Helton greeted Mikey and Jr. Then he told them about the restrictor plates for the race.
“We aren’t changing the plates but we need to take a measure with you two.” Mike Helton began. “Teams have been complaining you have a advantage so we are going to tear down every part of your cars right after I let you go. Any comments so far?”
“Now, I’m not doing this because I don’t have faith that your aren’t cheating buts it’s just the other teams are driving me crazy with this.”
“Ok, we understand that you are doing this to us.” Jr and Mikey said.
“Are you going to do it with some of the other teams too?” Jr asked.
“You two and RCR since you guys are dominating plate racing.” Mike Helton replied.
“Ok.” Jr said
“Now, can you guys please put your cars in the inspection area well I talk to Richard bout this.” Mike Helton said.
“Yes we can.” Mikey replied
“Thanks boys.” Mike said.
“Your welcome.” Jr and Mikey said.
They then left to go meet Ashley and Amanda back at the hotel where they were waiting.
“What did Mike have to say?” Ashley asked curiously
“He just wanted to check our cars and the RCR cars too.” Jr replied.
“Real closely since we’ve been the ones dominating plate racing.” Mikey added.
“Ok.” Ashley replied
“Don’t you think that’s wrong to do?” Amanda asked as she was thinking about it
“I think that was wrong to do.” Ashley said.
“Ya I think so also but it will shut a lot of the teams up now.” Jr said.
“Ok.” Ashley said. “Do you want to do the interview now?”
“Sure.” Jr said.
“Ok.” Ashley said. She and Jr left to go to Jr.’s room.
When they got there, they started the interview with jr.
“Now, watching you in practice you looked real good.” She said. “Do you have a shot at the shootout and maybe the plate sweep?”
“Yes we do.” Jr said. “My car is very good to win the shootout and the plate sweep.”
“Now, there have been rumors around that NASCAR is being pretty strict on you guys this weekend and also on your teammate.” Ashley said. “Are they true and do u agree?”
“They are true but I am not sure that I agree with them.” JR said.
“Well, good luck in Speedweeks.” Ashley said.
“Thanks.” Jr said.
Ashley wrote the down the last little bit and then asked, “Do you think I’ll do well with this?”
“Yes I do think that you will do well at this Ashley.” Jr assured.
“Better go give this to Chris.” Ashley said. “Um, where is the Hollywood hotel located?”
“The Hollywood hotel is located near the garage area.” Jr said.
Ashley ran to the Hollywood hotel and gave her interview thing to Chris and Jeff.
“I’ll get back to you after I read it.” Chris said.
“Ok.” Ashley said. She then left the Hollywood hotel and went back to the hotel to find jr. Jr was sitting there when she walked in.
“Did you find anything out?” Jr said.
“He said he’ll talk to me after he reads it.” Ashley said.
