Emma nervously approaches Manny and Manny's locker.
Emma: Hey..
Manny: Have another lecture for me do you?
Emma hands Manny a note:
"Friend: N. (frnd)
A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.
A person whom one knows; an acquaintance.
A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.
Ex. My FRIEND FORGAVE me when I apoligized."
Emma: Please Manny? I miss you.
Manny: Em, I miss you too and I needed you last year, and you were never there for me. Craig's fun and totally hot, but this was the worst summer, if I wasn't stuck at home on the computer I was making out with him. I know sounds fun, but not for two months straight!
They both laugh shyly
Emma: Oh yeah, that must really be terrible, sucking face with Degrassi's most popular guy all summer... Just kidding.
They walk to class together laughing and catching up on what they did over the summer.
Class begins Emma sits by Manny JT and Toby.
JT sees the girls walk in together, and looks at Emma with a betrayed and confused face.
JT: Umm Emma?
Emma: We'll talk later. K?
Emma: Oh, i forgot, Snake and my mom are throwing a party for Jack tomorrow. It's his first birthday. I know babies.. Adults.. Birthday clowns.. Not exactly your idea of fun but..
Manny: No. It sounds great! I can't wait. Thanks for asking.
Emma: Yeah, mom said I could invite friends. So it's you, Toby and JT. They were a little more excited about the party then my mom!
Manny: Losers!
Mrs. Kwan: Girls, something you'd like to share with the class?
They shake their heads "No" and Toby laughs.
The bell rings and they walk to their locker.
Ashley and Paige pass Emma and Manny in the hall.
Ashley glares at Manny, with hate in her eyes.
Ashley: Well, if it isn't little Miss Santos.. Paige better keep an eye on Spin, with this girl around.
Manny: Ash, seriously get over it. What was that like 9 months ago?
Paige: C'mon Ash let's go. She's not worth it.
Paige whispers to Manny: Just watch your back.
Manny *In a sarcastic cheery voice*: See you at Spirit Squad practice!
Paige and Ashley walk away
Paige says to Ashley: Heather Sinclair would never even be caught dead wearing that shirt. Hello can you say 'Salvation Army'?
Manny and Emma go off to different classes.
Emma goes to her theater club. She looks around, none of her friends signed up for the club, the only familiar faces were Ellie Nash; who was directing, and Sean; Building scenery.
Emma to herself: Great. No one to hang out with, and I am definitely not talking to Sean.
Emma sees Sean wave in her direction. Sean walks towards her and Emma says, sounding completely irritated, "Sean, don't talk to me, you'll just make it worse."
Sean: Don't worry about it.
Emma: But you just--
Emma turns around and sees that Ellie was standing behind her the whole time.
Sean: Hey Ellie.
Sean leans over and kisses Ellie on the cheek.
Ellie: Sean, hi
They continue talking. It kills Emma to them together.
At lunch Emma meets up with Manny.
Emma: Manny, you won't believe what I saw in theater!
Manny cuts Emma off.
