Day 73 - 79

09 - 15 JULY  2000

Previous week

Next week

I had a dreadful start to the week. My red blood cell count had dropped below the required minimum so I received a pint of blood. When my red blood cell counts drops so does my energy level because red blood cells carry oxgyen around the body.
This causes to become very weak and tired.

As the week went on I started feeling better once again. On Wednesday the doctors decided to stop my anti-viral medication. I was extremely overjoyed to hear that piece of news.

On Thursday we only made a brief visit to the hospital to have my blood tested. My white blood cell count is still looking good and staying above 5. My red blood cell count has recovered too and is in the normal range. Platelet counts are slowing but surely increasing to their normal level too.

On Friday I received a dose of Immune Globulin. My immune system is also getting slightly stronger and now I only get Immune Globulin every two weeks rather then every week.

Since I am not receiving any medications intravenously and the fact that I am feeling much better I have the weekend off from the hospital. This is my first weekend away from the hospital since my transplant. My hospital visits will hopefully be reduced to only once or twice a week from the coming week.

It feels good to be away from the hospital and medications. Each day I pray that I keep getting stronger and healthier so that I can return to my normal way of life.
