Day 45 - 48

11 - 14 JUNE  2000

Next week

Previous week

The battle of the bugs continued through the weekend. I spent the weekend in my hospital room, isolated from the rest of the world. One of my worst expreriences yet.

It was dad's birthday on Sunday and my doctor was kind enough to give me a few hours of freedom so I could spend some time at home with the family.

I was still in isolation all day Monday. My red blood cell count had dropped below the required minimum so I received two pints of blood. I put all my effort into convincing the doctors to let me go home. After a debate amongst themselves they decided it was fine. As I previously mentioned this bacteria causes no harm to heathy  people, only people with low immune systems.

I was allowed to come home on Tuesday morning but have to return to the hospital everyday for blood tests, check up and a round of anti-viral medication. The other anti-viral medication doses are administered at home by Chirag.  As usual I am treated as an out-patient which means that at any time I feel unwell I can return to the hospital.

Medical justice was served, and Clostridium Difficile was  destroyed with the assistance of anti-biotics but these guys have many friends and will seek revenge. I will have to take extra precautionary measures and tighten up on the defence systems against future violations.

The case with the CMV virus still continues....no verdict has been reached yet.

My next update will be on Saturday 17 June 2000.
