CELEBRATE ANGLO-INDIAN DAY!
FRIDAY, AUGUST 2, 2002
AT
SPARKS STEAK HOUSE
8220 Scott Road, Surrey
from 7.00 p.m.

[Note: The date of August 2nd as “Anglo-Indian Day” was decided upon becasue it was the date of the Promulgation of the Government of India Act 1935, defining an Anglo-Indian in pre-partition India. Later this definition was used in the Indian Constitution and is still relevant today.]

“I have much pleasure in announcing the establishment of August 2nd as “Anglo-Indian Day” said Gene Leckey, President of the New Zealand Eurasian Society Inc. “A day to celebrate, give thanks and reflect on our individuality, to look to the future by propagating our unique culture to our youth and the wider community in which we live. We hope Anglo-Indians all over the world will join hands with each other in celebrating “our” day with pride and thanksgiving.”

In keeping with that spirit of A-I cameraderie, join us with family and friends at this classy little restaurant in Surrey to celebrate this very special occasion

And last, but very far from least, mark your calendars for the big bash of the year - our New Year’s Eve dinner dance to be held at the Thompson Community Centre in Richmond. We are still working on organizational details, so stay tuned.
