CTR has had a good 2001 in its third year of existence. Here
are the details:
Senior Pension Project: We had 70 seniors in Calcutta, 35 in Madras and 10 in
Bangalore.
For 2002 we have committed to 90 seniors in Calcutta, 45 in Madras and 10 in
Bangalore.
Loreto Entally: We continue to maintain our sponsorship of 16 girls as boarders
in Loreto Convent.
Bow Bazaar: We started a new education program and helped 25 young day scholars.
MEC: We sent Sr. Marissa some money to help with her education project.
Disbursements:
Here is what we sent our administators to maintain the above projects (in Ca$,
US$ and/or
pound sterling):
Ms. Philo Eaton of CAISS Rs. 216,724
Sr. Joan of Loreto, Entally Rs. 118,000
Ms. Rachel Thurley of Anglo-Indian
Concern of Madras Rs. 113,270

Mr. Ron Thomas of Bow Bazaar: Rs. 29,598
Sr. Marissa of MEC Rs, 25,000
Total: Rs. 527,592
In any currency, this is a substantial effort.
Acknowledgements
Many persons have cared enough to put in a lot of work in raising funds. We
have had a good effort in the UK and an excellent effort in Canada. In November
Canada (Toronto) organized the third Tiljallah Relief dinner dance that resulted
in a contribution of CA$5,363.85. Many thanks to all the ticket sellers, volunteers
and supporters. In addition many Canadian AIs sponsor Loreto girls and
Bow Bazaar children. In the US we continue to raise funds from non-AIs
and a few AIs. As we increase our commitments we need to develop more
funding avenues.
