President's Message

Dear Members:

As I review my first few months in office, I would like to start by conveying my thanks to the executive, in particular to our outgoing President, Ashley Oliver, for all the hard work and team spirit that has gone into organizing the wonderful shows during 2001. Thanks, Ashley, on behalf of the membership for a great job.

The present executive has only changed portfolios, and we've come together with added vigour and a full calendar to ensure a fun filled year for all. We have the following agenda for 2002:

• We start with Anglo Indian Day (which incidentally is being celebrated world-wide on Friday August 2) at Sparks Restaurant in Surrey. We are trying this much-raved about venue for the first time, so please make an extra effort to attend. We will be soliciting your feedback on the venue and food.
• Next is the Picnic on August 24 - thanks again to Ian Currie and Raywyn Erickson for hosting it.
• Our annual Halloween Party will be held on October 26 at a new venue: the South Arm Community Center (as requested at the AGM).
• The final major event of the year is the New Year's Eve Dance at the Thompson Community Center - yes, on December 31.
• Details of the Yuletide Sing-a-long at Ladner will be communicated via a future newsletter.

As you can see, we have a busy social program ahead of us. The executive will, as usual, be doing most of the grunt work BUT, as we appealed at the AGM, we need all of you to help with ticket sales. Each member/family is asked to promote our events among your family members and friends, and to sell at least one ticket, besides purchasing your own. This will also help us boost our membership. The more the merrier!

Lastly, but by no means the least, I would like to say a sincere thank you to all the members who have shown confidence in me and the executive by voting us into office. I speak on behalf of the Executive to assure you that we will uphold the high ideals of the club and work diligently towards its goals.

Many of you may have started making your summer vacation plans. For all of you who will be travelling, I wish you a safe and relaxing holiday. For those who are staying at home: "See you at the summer events."
