Margaret's Musings

Hello Folks:

March has arrived, and it's the time of year when those famous lines come to mind: "Spring is sprung, the grass is riz, wonder where that lawnmower iz?" Or, maybe… "wonder where that AI newsletter iz?" Well at the moment it is right here on my monitor screen, but will soon be on its way to your mailboxes.

While I was standing on my head "Down Under", you folks were kicking up your heels here at our New Year's Eve Gala. From Lorelei Todd's enthusiastic write up it was obviously a real whiz-bang show! We have more of the same planned over 2003, so I hope you'll all come back for an encore when we put on our dancing shoes for a May Madness Masquerade on Saturday May 31st.

It's also time to get together once again for our Club's Annual General Meeting, to be held in Ladner on May 4th. The formal Notice of Annual General Meeting is enclosed with this Newsletter, together with tear-off nomination slips for the election of your Committee members. As in previous years, we need you all to make a special effort to attend this as the success of the Club hinges on your participation and involvement in the planning of our social activities program for the rest of the year. We would also like to hear from volunteers who are willing to join our Executive Committee team. There are several very capable and energetic people among you-and if you have enjoyed all the many good times we've shared in the past then, in return, please do step forward and contribute your time, ideas and organizational skills so that we can to continue to keep the Club's banner unfurled and flying high.

As many of you are aware, the next International A.I. Reunion is planned for January 2004 in Melbourne, and for those of you who are thinking about attending this, details are in this newsletter. Closer to home is a Conference scheduled in Toronto in early August-see notice for contact information. We've had a good deal of interest in the Alaska Cruise (which takes off from our shores on September 7th,) from folks in Australia and the U.S., particularly since the cabin rates have now dropped to bargain basement levels. If you have friends in the UK, do give them the tip off on this as with the friendly exchange rate, this is truly a terrific opportunity for those living in "Blighty".

I hope you enjoy the contents of this issue-as always, we look forward to receiving YOUR contributions to our Summer Newsletter!

Cheers!
