| A powerful miko(Shine maiden), Kikyo, who has the ability to purify jaki (evil energy). Good Kikyo: Kikyo lived in a small village, and was one day asked by a village of demon exterimantors to protect the jewel, becaue of her outstanding power to purify. Kikyo at this point, took the jewel and protected it from evil. Many demons tried to get their hands on the jewel for their own profit. But Kikyo was always there with her abilities protecting and purifying the jewel. At some point Inu Yasha heard of the jewel and the person protecting it. So Inu Yasha tried on several attempts to get the jewel, or by attacking Kikyo, each and everytime he failed. But Kikyo did not finish him off. She would leave him pinned to a tree or just enough to scare him off. Finally one day Kikyo approached Inu Yasha and told him the reason she didn't harm him. Shortly after that Kikyo and Inu Yasha began a very serious relationship. Where ever Kikyo went Inu Yasha was sure to follow. Until one day Kikyo asked Inu Yasha to use the jewel's powers to become full human. So she could have a normal life with him. It sounded like a good enough idea, but everything went terribly wrong. And Naraku came between them and screwed it up. Inu Yasha was attacked by Kikyo(Naraku) And he was enraged that he was betrayed, So he attacked the village trying to retrieve the jewel. Elsewhere, Kikyo was being attacked and wounded by Inu Yasha (Naraku) leading her to hate him. She ran back to the village to find her younger sister,Keade, blind in one eye, becaues of Inu Yasha attacking. She saw in the distance Inu Yasha taking off with the jewel which he stole from the village.. Kikyo gathered every bit of strength she had and struck Inu Yasha with a purifying arrow. Sealing him to a tree. (Now if Kikyo was smart and she really loved Inu Yasha she would have considered this... Why would Inu Yasha come to the village to get the jewel that he already had from her?...) Kikyo died on that very day, telling her younger sister to burn the jewel with her remains, because she wanted to take the jewel with her into the next life so no one could get their hands on it. |

Bad Kikyo: 50 years later, Kagome gets kidnapped, and her soul is taken to revieve Kikyo, by Ursue, so that Kikyo can collect the jewel for her. But things go terribly wrong and Kikyo holds more hate towards the world she used to protect. And when she see's Inu Yasha still alive. She strikes out in anger. With Kikyo's lingering hate for the world she lives on taking souls of those who have died. She uses the souls to keep herself still moving, for when Kikyo struck out at Inu Yasha, he screamed in pain, awaking Kagome's soul. Kagome's soul escaped from Kikyo and returned to Kagome's body, and what was left in Kikyo was only hate and anger. And that was not enough to keep Kikyo going. So she steals more souls to keep herself alive. Kikyo later did find out about Naraku tricking Inu Yasha and her into hating each other, but Kikyo hold hatred towards Inu Yasha for many reasons. But what others don't realize is that she hates herself more than Inu Yasha. Kikyo hates the fact that she was weak and fell in love. She takes her anger out on Inu Yasha blaming him for her misery. She evnies Inu Yasha's free will, life, and the affection he gives to Kagome. Her hatred is driven by the fact that Kagome has a free life, she has a chance to fall in love.To Kikyo, Kagome is able and cable of doing everything she was not. Kagome has an outlook on life that amazes Kikyo, and at some point she realizes it even more, when Kagome is trying to save Kikyo for the second time. Kagome knows that Inu Yasha and Kikyo have unbreakable bonds, and Kikyo is aware of Kagome knowledge. Why Kagome still saves Kikyo, even though Kikyo is the only thing between Kagome and Inu Yasha, amazes Kikyo..(Eps. 98) Kikyo was guessed to be about 19 years of age when she died.
