Inu Yasha:

Inuyasha acts very arrogant and tuff just to hide the fact that he's a total softy inside. He totally has a crush, well actually more than a crush, on Kagome. They could of hit it off real well if Kikyo hadn't showed up, reviving Inuyasha's old love for her. But as Kikyo tries to kill Kagome out of jealsously, she only makes Inuyasha love Kagome all the more. Inuyasha is about 18-20 years old, not including the time he spent pinned to a tree. Inuyasha owns his father's sword the Tetsusaiga, which along with his father's other sword the Tensaiga, which Sesshourmaru owns, it is the best demon sword ever crafted. In battle Inuyasha has other attacks, though far inferior, that he can use againest enemies, like his Sankon Tetsusou (soul scattering iron claw), and his Hijin Ketsusou (flying blade blood claw). Inuyasha is indeed a powerful demon, but he also has weaknesses. Every new moon, because of his half human blood, he turns into a complete human, including no super-human powers, loss of his cute puppy-dog ears and his gorgeous white hair (it turns black), no claws or fangs, and his eyes turn dark and human-like. His mission in life is to collect all the jewel shards and become a full demon, or a full human, and also to revenge Kikyo's death, along with all his other misfortunes, by killing Naraku.
Inuyasha wants the jewel to become full demon. But later on in the series he has a taste of that, and he is afraid of his demon power, because he doesn't want to hurt or forget Kagome.

Inu Yasha's Story

Inuyasha's father, a demon, fell in love with a beatiful human girl. Together they brought Inuyasha into a world that had no place or want for half-breeds. Soon after his birth, his father died, leaving him and his mother to fair for themselves. His mother wept for Inuyasha constantly, for she knew that he would never belong, that he would never be accepted by either society. Being shunned, he developed an arrogant personality and felt that he only had himself to look out for, and it didn't matter who he stepped on, as long as he got to the top of the food chain. Legend of a powerful priestess who guarded a scared jewel that was capable of unimaginable feats soon reached Inuyasha. He devised a plan  to steal this scared jewel and then use it's powers to become a full-fledged demon. Then, unexpectedly, came along, Kikyo.
Kikyo was the Jewels protector, and she would not allow Inuyasha to steal it, yet she still refused to kill him all the same whenever he tried. Kikyo felt that they were both the same, both outsiders that the world would never appreciate. It soon came clear that Kikyo had no intention of harming Inuyasha, and visa versa. A bond of understanding was formed between them, and they became fond of each other and even trustworthy; a great feat on both sides.
Inuyasha told Kikyo of his desire to possess the Jewel in order to become a full demon, so that he would finally have a place to belong. Kikyo reminded him that it was true he could use the Shikon Jewel to become a full demon, yet it was also true that he could use it to become a full human. He had always thought of himself as a half-demon, but never as half-human. The thought passed through his mind, but why would he want to become a pathic human? Simple, love. The bond of understanding that had, long ago, formed between them had grown into a compassionate love. Together, Kikyo and Inuyasha decided to use the Shikon Jewel in order to transform Inuyasha into a human. Not only would he finally belong, but Kikyo would be at his side, having been freed of her resposibilities to guard the Jewel.
They planned on a spot to meet the next day, but when Inuyasha was on his way to greet Kikyo and his new life with her, he was attacked and by who else? Kikyo! Inuyasha, outraged, ran to her village and stole the scared Shikon Jewel, but as he made his get away, Kikyo shot one of her magical arrows which caught Inuyasha and pinned him to a tree where he hung for 50 years under Kikyo's powerful spell. Kikyo died that day and cremated the Jewel along with her.
500 years into the future, Kagome, the renicarnation of the great priestess Kikyo, went through the Bone Eater's Well at her home shrine where she found Inuyasha pinned, helplessly, to a tree. Kagome freed him, and, in a later battle, accidently broke the Shikon Jewel that she had brought back to the past with her. Now she and Inuyasha join forces to gather all of the jewel shards (Note: Inuyasha still wants to become a full demon).
At the beginning, Inuyasha only let Kagome come along with him because she could sense the jewel shards and direct him where to go, but as time went on, Inuyasha fell in love with her and could not bear to be without her. Together they combact with Inuyasha's older brother Sesshormaru, and gain the Tetsusaiga, the fabled sword of Inuyasha's father, and then collect a great deal of jewel shards with the help of some friends they meet along the road. Together they fight off demons, and search for a way to destroy the evil demon Naraku who is the cause of so much suffering.
