BANG! BANG!
So you want to be a �gansta!� Claim the hood to the fullest. Pack the heat. Show the world you�re the cruelest. Ball till you fall. Do or die. You want it all, (flocks of women and money to the ceiling). You can�t fake the funk; I know how you�re feeling. Why are you killing? Why are you drug-dealing?
See, I�ve been there. Bar none, fade whatever, whenever, whoever. True soldier in the wicked streets. Click deep. Tattoos from my head to my feet. Money as long as I-45. Did not care if I lived or died. Bullet wounds and prison time, only added to my street pride.
I was really just another �gangsta� dying inside. In the �game� there is nowhere to run or hide. I ducked and dodged from the biggest bullets, until I could not run anymore. I�ve been gunned down twice, but God let me live. I got away with many crimes. Still, I�m locked up in this prison for the second time. I laid many chalk lines, but the memories haunt me day and night. I used to call it the �sacrifice for the �G� life. Not anymore. Because it dawns on me every time the prison guard shuts this cell door. Or I see another gang member beaten and stabbed to death, lying there on the prison floor. I realize the gang life is not for me anymore.
See, since 1995 I laid my �flag� down. No more would I risk my life for something as small as a color. The money no longer matters. I can�t put any price tag on my life. All the pain I caused people. There was no taking it back, but the healing started in 1995. Back in the day, I did not want to be a �gangsta.� I was �THE GANGSTA.� A heavy price comes with that title. A lot of my old �homies� are no longer living. Some days, I wonder if all their sins were forgiven. Only if I had the power to bring them back, I would help them get their lives on the right track. Looking back on my life as a �gangsta,� I realize it was all for nothing.
If you are in a gang, today decide to make a change for the better. There is a way out. All you have to do is decide in your heart and mind that you want to live. That you want more out of life than going to prison or an early grave. Stand up for what is right. Stop playing the blame game. Change must start somewhere. Begin to build, right where you are at. Your new life starts right now!
