Mid-Coast Fantasy Football Rules 2002 Edition
ARTICLE 01A THIS FANTASY LEAGUE WILL BE KNOWN AS THE MID COAST FANTASY
FOOTBALL LEAGUE (MCFFL). THIS LEAGUE WILL CONSIST OF NO MORE
THAN FOURTEEN TEAMS.
ARTICLE 02A: THE ANNUAL MEETING WILL BE HELD NO LATER THAN TWO WEEKS PRIOR
TO THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE'S OPENING DAY (EXCEPTION,
STRIKE SEASON)
ARTICLE 02B: DURING THE ANNUAL MEETING OWNERS WILL
DRAFT PLAYERS VOTE ON RULE PROPOSALS AND CONDUCT LEAGUE BUSINESS.
ARTICLE 02C: THE LEAGUE OWNER WILL REMAIN COMMISSIONER. HE/ SHE WILL WILL CHAIR ALL
ANNUAL AND SPECIAL MEETINGS. HE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO KEEP ACCURATE RECORDS
OF MINUTES OF ALL MEETINGS, WEEKLY STATISTICS, DRAFT PICKS, TRADES, AND
ROSTER MOVES THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.
ARTICLE 02D: THE COMMISSIONER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO ASSURE THAT ALL
ARTICLES TO THESE BY-LAWS ARE ADDRESSED. THE COMMISSIONER
WILL REPRESENT ALL MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE. ANY DISPUTES,
VIOLATIONS, AND DECISIONS THAT MAY ARISE WILL BE SOLVED OR
DECIDED BY THE COMMISSIONER, IN ACCORDANCE TO THESE BY-LAWS
OR BY THE MAJORITY CONSENSUS OF THE LEAGUE OWNERS.
ARTICLE 03A: EACH TEAM SHOULD CONSIST OF NO MORE THAN THIRTY FOUR PLAYERS.
OF THOSE THIRTY FOUR PLAYERS, NINETEEN PLAYERS WILL BE MAINTAINED ON
THE WEEKLY ROSTERS. NO MORE THAN 10 PLAYERS WILL BE KEPT
ON THE MINOR LEAGUE ROSTER. NO MORE THAN FIVE PLAYERS WILL
BE KEPT ON THE INJURED RESERVES.
ARTICLE 03B: TEAM ROSTERS WILL CONSIST OF ANY PLAYERS WHICH ARE UNDER
CONTRACT WITH ANY NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE (NFL) TEAM.
ROSTERS WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING POSITION PLAYERS: TWO
QUARTERBACKS, THREE RUNNING BACKS, THREE WIDE RECEIVERS, TWO
TIGHT ENDS, TWO KICKERS, TWO DEFENSIVE LINEMEN, TWO
LINEBACKERS, TWO DEFENSIVE BACKS AND ONE EXTRA PLAYER. THE
EXTRA PLAYER CAN BE FROM ANY POSITION.
ARTICLE 03C: TEAMS MAY USE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING OFFENSIVE FORMATIONS DURING
HEAD TO A HEAD GAMES. 1. THREE WIDE RECEIVERS, ONE RUNNING
BACK, AND ONE TIGHT END. 2. ONE WIDE RECEIVER, TWO RUNNING
BACKS AND TWO TIGHT ENDS. 3. TWO WIDE RECEIVERS, ONE RUNNING
BACK AND TWO TIGHT ENDS. 4. TWO RUNNING BACKS, TWO WIDE
RECEIVERS, AND ONE TIGHT END. ONLY ONE QUARTER BACK CAN BE
USED EACH GAME. THERE WILL BE NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS.
ARTICLE 03D: TEAMS MAY USE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING DEFENSIVE FORMATIONS DURING
A HEAD TO HEAD GAME. ONE DEFENSIVE LINEMEN, ONE LINE BACKER,
AND ONE DEFENSIVE BACK. THERE WILL BE NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS.
ARTICLE 04A: THE LEAGUE WILL ESTABLISH AN INJURED RESERVE LIST. NO FANTASY
TEAM CAN CARRY MORE THAN FIVE POSITION PLAYERS ON THAT LIST.
ARTICLE 04B: IF A NFL TEAM PLACES A PLAYER ON THE DISABLED LIST, THAN THAT
INJURED PLAYER MAY STAY ON A FANTASY TEAMS REGULAR ROSTER, BE
PLACED ON THE INJURED RESERVE LIST OR RELEASED.
ARTICLE 04C: BEFORE THE START OF THE NFL SEASON, FANTASY TEAMS MAY ESTABLISH
A TWELVE PLAYER RESERVE SQUAD. THIS SQUAD MAY CONSIST OF
PLAYERS WHO HAVE FOUR YEARS OR LESS EXPERIENCE. FANTASY TEAMS
MAY ACTIVATE PLAYERS FROM THIS SQUAD THROUGH OUT THE SEASON.
ONE YEARS SERVICE IN THIS FANTASY LEAGUE WILL RESULT WHEN AN
PLAYER HAS PLAYED ONE GAME OR MORE. ONLY THE ORIGINAL 10
RESERVE PLAYERS DESIGNATED FOR THAT GIVEN YEAR CAN RETURN TO
THAT FANTASY TEAMS RESERVE ROSTER.
ARTICLE 04D: IF A PLAYER IS SENT TO THE MINORS OR RELEASED BY HIS NFL TEAM,
HE MAY BE MAINTAINED ON THE FANTASY TEAM'S 34 MAN ROSTER OR
RELEASED.
ARTICLE 04E: IF A FANTASY TEAM ADDS A PLAYER TO THEIR ROSTER WHICH EXCEEDS
THE TOTAL FANTASY TEAM ROSTER OF THIRTY FOUR (34), THAT FANTASY
TEAM MUST RELEASE A PLAYER OR PLAYERS IMMEDIATELY.
ARTICLE 04F: IF A PLAYER IS PLACED ON WAIVERS, THEN THAT PLAYER CAN NOT BE
CLAIMED BY ANY FANTASY TEAM FOR SEVEN DAYS. ONCE THOSE
SEVEN DAYS HAVE ELAPSED THE PLAYER THAT HAS CLEARED WAIVERS WILL
BE AVAILABLE TO ANY FANTASY TEAM. TEAMS CAN PICK UP AND RELEASE
PLAYERS UP UNTIL THE PLAYOFFS
ARTICLE 04G: ALL TEAMS WILL SUBMIT THE COMPLETE ROSTERS TO THE COMMISSIONER
SEVEN DAYS PRIOR TO THE NFL OPENING GAME.
ARTICLE 04H: ALL 10 MAN WEEKLY ROSTERS SHALL BE CALLED OR EMAILED TO THE LEAGUE'S
COMMISSIONER BEFORE NOON TIME THE DAY OF THE FIRST NFL GAMES OF THE
WEEK, EACH WEEK. FAILURE TO MEET THAT DEADLINE WILL RESULT IN USING
THAT TEAMS PRIOR WEEKS ROSTER.
ARTICLE 04I: IF AN OWNER WOULD LIKE TO START A PLAYER WHICH HE FEELS MAY OR MAY NOT
PLAY HE OR SHE MAY USE A SLASH. FOR EXAMPLE: QB JOE/QB BOB. IF QB JOE PLAYS
AT ALL HIS STATS WOULD BE USED BUT IF HE WAS NOT TO PLAY THEN BOBS STATS
WOULD BE USED
ARTICLE 04J: ANY VIOLATION TO ARTICLES 04A TO 04L WILL RESULT IN A LOSS FOR
THAT WEEK UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. THIS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL
THAT FANTASY TEAM IS NO LONGER IN VIOLATION TO THESE RULES.
ARTICLE 05A: DURING THE LEAGUE'S ANNUAL DRAFT, FANTASY TEAMS MAY DRAFT ANY
UNPROTECTED PLAYERS TO FILL THEIR THIRTY FOUR PLAYER ROSTERS.
FANTASY TEAMS WILL DRAFT IN ACCORDANCE TO WHERE THEY FINISHED
THE PREVIOUS YEAR. THE FANTASY TEAM THAT FINISHED LAST IN THE
STANDINGS WILL DRAFT FIRST AND SO ON UNTIL THE FANTASY TEAM
THAT FINISHED FIRST. THIS WILL BE FOLLOWED UNTIL EACH FANTASY
TEAM HAS FILLED THEIR THIRTY FOUR MAN ROSTERS.
ARTICLE 05B: A MAJORITY VOTE OF ALL THE OWNERS WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE THE LEAGUE
CAN EXPAND. THE LEAGUE CAN ONLY EXPAND UP TO TWO TEAMS ANY GIVEN YEAR.
THERE WILL BE THREE SEPERATE DRAFTS AS FOLLOWS; GROUP #1, QUARTERBACKS
, RUNNINGBACKS AND WIDE RECIEVERS WILL BE DRAFTED AS ONE GROUP.
GROUP #2, TIGHT ENDS, PLACE KICKERS AND DEFENSIVE PLAYERS WILL BE DRAFTED
AS THE SECOND GROUP, DEVELOPMENT SQUAD PLAYERS WILL BE DRAFTED AS THE
THIRD GROUP. CURRENT TEAMS WILL BE ALLOWED TO PROTECT 5 PLAYERS IN GROUP 1, FIVE
PLAYERS IN GROUP 2 AND 4 PLAYERS IN GROUP 3. CURRENT TEAMS WILL NOT LOSE
MORE THAN 2 PLAYERS IN EACH GROUP FOR A TOTAL OF 6 PLAYERS.
DURING THE DRAFT, THE TWO EXPANSION TEAMS WILL DRAFT 1ST AND SECOND ROTATING
EACH ROUND. THE DRAFT ORDER WILL BE DECIDED BYE A FLIP OF A COIN. THE TEAM
THAT WINS THE FLIP OF THE COIN WILL DECIDE WHICH DRAFT (EXPANSION OR ANNUAL DRAFT)
THAT THEY WILL DRAFT FIRST IN. THE COIN FLIP LOSER WILL BE AWARDED THE 1ST PICK
IN THE OPPOSITE DRAFT .
EXPANSION OWNERS MUST ATTEND THE EXPANSION DRAFT. ALTERNATE MEANS OF DRAFTING, WILL
BE TO DRAFT VIA THE INTERNET (YAHOO MESSANGER, OR EMAIL) SHOULD THE EXPANSION OWNER
BE UNABLE TO ATTEND IN PERSON, THEY MAY SEND A REPRESENATIVE TO DRAFT IN THEIR PLACE.
EXISTING OWNERS MAY ATTEND THE EXPANSION DRAFT.
ARTICLE 06A: FANTASY TEAMS WILL BE FREE TO TRADE ANYTIME EXCEPT FROM THE START
OF WEEK ELEVEN TO THE END OF THE MCFFL PLAY OFF. ALL TRADES MUST
BE REASONABLE AND KEPT WITH THE LEAGUE'S BEST INTEREST IN MIND.
ALL TRADES MAY BE SUBJECT TO REVIEW BY THE LEAGUE'S COMMISSONER.
ANY UNREASONABLE TRADES CAN BE VETOED BY COMMISSIONER. A VETO
CAN BE OVERRIDDEN BY A TWO-THIRDS VOTE OF MAJORITY LEAGUES OWNERS.
IF THE COMMISSIONER OWNS A TEAM, THE LEAGUE MUST HOLD A VOTE TO ELECT
A SEPERATE COMMISSIONER TO OVER SEE ANY TRADES MADE BY THE LEAGUE COMMISSIONER
DURING THE LEAGUES ANNUAL MEETING.
ARTICLE 06B: ALL TRADES MUST BE REPORTED TO THE COMMISSIONER SO THAT HE CAN
RECORD AND PUBLISH THE TRADES.
ARTICLE 07A: NFL.COM BOX SCORES WILL BE USED FOR OFFICIAL LEAGUE STATS
ARTICLE 07B: SCORING WILL BE TABULATED FOR EACH TEAM AS FOLLOWS:

ARTICLE 07C: FANTASY TEAMS WILL PLAY HEAD TO HEAD EACH WEEK FOR A TOTAL OF
FOURTEEN WEEKS. STATISTICS WILL BE TABULATED FOR EACH WEEK. TEAMS WILL
PLAY EVERY TEAM IN THEIR DIVISON 3 TIMES. THE REST OF THEIR SCHEDUEL WILL
BE MADE UP OF 5 GAMES AGAINST VARIOUS OTHER TEAMS IN SEPERATE DIVISIONS.
ARTICLE 07D: AT THE END OF THE FOURTEEN WEEKS THE FANTASY TEAM WITH THE MOST
WINS IN EACH DIVISION WILL WIN THAT DIVISION AND ADVANCE TO THE
PLAY OFF. THE FANTASY TEAM WITH THE FOURTH BEST RECORD WILL
ADVANCE TO THE PLAY OFF AS WILD CARD TEAM.
ARTICLE 07E: AT THE END OF THE SEASON SHOULD A TIE OCCUR THE FOLLOWING WILL
DETERMINE WHO ADVANCES INTO THE PLAY OFF WHO FACES WHO IN THE
PLAY OFF AND THE ORDER OF THE DRAFT FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR.
#1 HEAD TO HEAD COMPETITION. #2 DIVISION COMPETITION. #3 POINTS.
#4 A SINGLE GAME GAME PLAY OFF ONLY TO DETERMINE WHO ADVANCES
INTO THE PLAY OFF. #5 A COIN FLIP WILL BE USED ONLY TO DECIDE THE
DRAFT ORDER.
ARTICLE 07F: THE DIVISION WINNERS PLUS THE WILD CARD TEAM WILL PLAY OFF IN
A PLAY OFF FORMAT. DURING THE PLAY OFF, TEAMS WILL FACE EACH
OTHER HEAD TO HEAD IN ACCORDANCE TO RULE 07b. WEEK FIFTEEN THE
FIRST TEAM AND THE FOURTH PLACE TEAM, PLUS THE SECOND PLACE AND
THE THIRD PLACE TEAM WILL FACE EACH OTHER. THE WINNERS WILL
ADVANCE. WEEK SIXTEEN THESE WINNERS WILL PLAY OFF FOR THE
CHAMPIONSHIP. IN THE EVENT OF A POSSIBLE TIE AN EXTRA PLAYER
WILL BE PRE SELECTED BY EACH TEAM TO DECIDE THE OUTCOME. SHOULD
A TIE OCCUR AFTER THAT THE GAME WILL GO DOWN AS A DRAW.
ARTICLE 08A: AN OWNER MUST BE REPRESENTED AT THE ANNUAL DRAFT DAY. THE USE
OF TELEPHONE, COMPUTER, OR ANY OTHER COMMUNICATION DEVICE MAY BE
USED. FAILURE TO PARTICIPATE ON DRAFT DAY WILL RESULT IN FILLING
THE FANTASY TEAM ROSTER WITH THE REMAINING AVAILABLE FREE AGENT
PLAYERS.
ARTICLE 08B: LEAGUE DUES WILL BE COLLECTED DURING THE DRAFT. NO DUES NO DRAFT!
THE DUES WILL BE USED TO RUN THE DAY TO DAY OPERATION OF THE LEAGUE
OR WILL BE USED FOR WHAT EVER THE LEAGUE DEEMS NECESSARY. ANY ENTRY FEE
AMOUNT WILL BE VOTED ON BY THE MAJORITY OF THE LEAGUES OWNERS.
ALL MONEY COLLECTED WILL ONLY BE USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ENTERTAINMENT.
ARTICLE 09A: IF A CURRENT FANTASY TEAM LOSES THEIR OWNER FOR ANY REASON,
THEN ALL PLAYERS ON THAT FANTASY TEAM'S ROSTER WILL BECOME FROZEN
AND NO OTHER FANTASY TEAM CAN CLAIM THOSE PLAYERS UNTIL ANOTHER
FANTASY TEAM OWNER CAN BE FOUND TO RUN THE FANTASY TEAM.
ARTICLE 09B: IF AN EXISTING FANTASY TEAM LOSES THEIR OWNER THAN THAT FANTASY
TEAM CAN BE SOLD TO ANY OWNER PROVIDED THEY HAVE THE MAJORITY
APPROVAL OF THE REMAINING FANTASY TEAM OWNERS. NO OWNER IN THIS
LEAGUE CAN OWN, OPERATE, OR MANAGE MORE THAN ONE FANTASY TEAM.
ARTICLE 10A: EXPANSION WILL BE APPROVED BY A MAJORITY VOTE OF ALL ACTIVE LEAGUE OWNERS.
ARTICLE 11A: A PLAYER WILL QUALIFY FOR A POSITION FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF THE NFL
SEASON PROVIDED HE PLAYED AT LEAST ONE GAME AT THAT POSITION DURING
THE PRIOR NFL SEASON.
ARTICLE 11B: AFTER THE FIRST WEEK OF THE SEASON A PLAYER MUST PLAY ONE NFL GAME
AT A POSITION TO QUALIFY FOR THE POSITION IN QUESTION.
ARTICLE 12a: FANTASY TEAMS IN THIS LEAGUE WILL BE DIVIDED BETWEEN THREE DIVISIONS.
FANTASY TEAMS WILL BE DIVIDED BY RANDOM ORDER. THE DIVISIONS
WILL REMAIN UNTIL IT IS NECESSARY TO REALIGN.
NOTE: THESE BY-LAWS WERE DESIGNED TO FIT THE NEEDS OF THE MCFF LEAGUE. THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED, CHANGED, AND RECONFIGURED TO BEST FIT THE MID COAST FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE. ANYONE MAY USE ANY OR ALL OF THESE RULES CONTAINED HEREIN.
