| The crazy month of December has come to a close. Similar to most other people we have been busy with Christmas preparations in the month of December. In addition to that, we received our list of documents to get ready to send our adoption papers to China, so we were busy collating them.....original birth and marriage certificiates, new medical checks, new financial statements, etc etc. When we handed them in in mid December we found we were number 4 in the batch (minimum of 5 is needed). By Christmas time there were 6 files, so they have started the process of notorisation, authorisation, and certification.....and THEN they go to China (FINALLY!). We think the notorisation has been done, as the first cheque has been presented, and hopefully the other things should be done by mid-January. I'm sure you'll hear the news when our file finally goes!! We're not going away at all over Christmas/New Year, as Jerome only has public holidays off, but it's still nice to have some kind of break. Our family Christmas celebrations were a bit smaller than usual, as Jo was in PNG, Nathan was with his fiance's famiy in Jarvis Bay NSW, Rachel was working, Jerome's parents are in Singapore, and Alivin is in London! So there was only Deb's parents, David and our family. Bethany loved helping decorate the Christmas tree - everything was "pity" (pretty). And everything was on the same 2 branches that she could reach! They were pretty heavily laden, but I did get a chance to put some on the higher branches as well. She enjoyed opening all her presents, but had too many - once she'd opened 2 or 3 she wanted to play with them and wasn't interested in opening any more. So we left them for the next couple of days. Since then David has left for Thailand on a short term missions trip (returns end of January), Jo is still in PNG (returns end of Jan), Nathan has returned (but we don't see him often!), Rachel is about to move to the desert in remote SA, Deb's parents are in a training "camp" for a couple of weeks to prepare for their African missions trip later in the year, and Jerome's family is still in Singapore/London! So it's fairly quiet around here! |
