Russell County, Kentucky
As I progressed in my family search I was fortunate to make contact with Granuaile O'Flanagan. Her hard work and willingness to share has provided much detail and depth into my maternal line, Flanagan.
My Flanagan family roots are also in Russell Co., KY beginning with John Flanagan arriving by 1810.
In the first Court Order book for Russell Co., page 138, "John Flanagan enters for taxation 100 acres of land lying on the Lilly in Russell County at $3.00 per acre which is ordered to be certified to the Sherriff of this county and the auditor of public accounts."
From "The Cemeteries Under Lake Cumberland and Russell County, Kentucky Death Records" compiled by Carol Lee Sanders, page 26:
"John Flanagan, 85 year old male, widower, farmer, no birthplace given listed, Resident of Russell Co. died Russell Co. Oct. 26, 1857 of Old Age, Parent listed as Bryant Flanagan."

Mason Flanagan, son of Bryant and Milly, was born August 28, 1823 and died March 19, 1907 Russell Co., KY. He married Martha Jane Bailey in Russell Co. February 9, !846. She was the daughter of James Bailey. Martha was born November 9, 1823 and died November 21, 1905. Mason and Martha are buried in the Flanagan Cemetery, Russell Co., KY.
Daniel Everett Flanagan, b May 6, 1858 d April 21, 1947, son of Mason and Martha (Bailey) Flanagan, married in Russell Co. December 22, 1887, Armilda Gadberry b September 15, 1866 d April 2, 1947. Armilda was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Gadberry and Martha Ann Tarter. Daniel was a farmer and a teacher, teaching in the Jabez school during the late 1890s. Daniel and Armilda are buried in the Tarter-Hudson Cemetery, Pulaski Co., KY.
