Work with a buddy to create a menu of plant parts.

RESOURCES and PROCESS
1.  What are the three main parts of a plant?  Carefully observe the parts of the sunflower.  Use the vocabulary words to help in the next plant parts identification activity.
2. Most plants have the same three parts, some plant's parts look different. Print the
worksheet and label the flower, stem, leaves, and roots.
3. Name the
plant parts we love to eat.  Identify the plant part that we think is yummy!   We eat leaves.   We eat the roots.  We eat the seeds and the fruit. We eat the stem and the flower.
4.  Work with a buddy to create a menu using your favorite plant parts.  Use  at least 3 of the 5 plant parts in your menu.  The menu should be labeled, neat, and colorful.  Your teacher will explain exactly what art materials can be used to create your project.  A
menu page can be used to write your menu.
5. Use these
fun sources for learning as you prepare your menu.
EVALUATION
Each student will be evaluated on their completion of all task and their cooperation while working with a buddy.  Student and teacher will have a copy of the evaluation rubric.
CONCLUSION
You are so smart!  You know exactly which plant part you love to eat!  Not all plants are safe to eat, but those that are cooked or prepared as a food item by people who care about your safety are YUMMY and good for you.  Enjoy your menu and look for other plant parts as you eat.
