What it's called: The Imperius Curse
What you say: "Imperio!"
What it does: gives you total control of the person(s) casted upon
Comments: This curse was used often during our Dark Lord's height of power to control witches and wizards inside the Ministry of Magic. After his fall, many Death Eaters claimed to have been under the Imperious Curse in order to escape imprisonment.

What it's called: The Cruciatus Curse
What you say: "Crucio!"
What it does: Causes extreme pain to the person(s) casted upon
Comments: This was one of the favorites used in the torturing of muggles and the Dark Lord's non-supporters.

What it's called: The Killing Curse (aka Avada Kedavra)
What you say: "Avada Kedavra!"
What it does: Instantly kills those cast upon
Comments: This is the ultimate curse. There is no blocking it and no countercurse. The only person known to have survived it is Harry Potter. Bodies are left unmarked and no real cause of death can be detected by muggles or otherwise.

Not for nothing are these known as the Unforgivable Curses. The use of any of them on a fellow human being is enough to merit a life sentence in Azkaban.
