Vocalist: Agent M Guitarist: Mike Griffen Bassist: Dominic Davi Drummer: Gabe Linderman Label: Kung Fu Records (The Definitive Act) Location: Bay Area, California Available Media: Take the Reins Video (wmv), Say it like you mean it mp3 (mwv), The Safetey Song mp3 (mwv) Not much has been known about Tsunami Bomb, besides the unfortunate naming of the band, due to the Tsunami incident in South East Asia, which left millions for dead. Tsunami Bomb are a punk band, do not mistake them for pop - Mike Griffen's solo in Top 40 Hits and singer, Agent M's screaming will tell you otherwise. Formed in 1999 by bassist, Dominic Davi, the bassist was later joined by Agent M on vocals, Gabe Linderman on drums and Mike Griffen on guitar. Tsunami Bomb are set about conquering America the old fashioned way - with incessant touring Grown with Californian pride, the Bay Area quartet had signed onto a local indie record label, Kung Fu records (Ataris/Vandals) in 2002. Their debut album, The Ultimate Escape offers true American punk influence with, what Agent M, claims to be her more influential band, the ever-growing Greenday. Their adventure began in 2000, an EP titled, the invasion within. Two years later, with a record deal with Kung Fu records, the debut album The Ultimate Escape was to be one of the most successful debuts on Kung Fu record history. ^ Honestly, that's all the information I can find on Tsunami Bomb. They have got to be one of the most low-profiled band in the world. The lead singer, Agent M is only referred to as Agent M. She has no no name! Green Day Members Vocals, Guitar: Billie Joe Armstrong Bass, Vocals: Mike Dirnt Drummer: Al Sobrante(1), Tre Cool(2/permenant) Label: Warner Bros September 21st 2004, American Idiot Location: Berkley, California Available Media: All Albums mp3 (wmv), There hasn't been any other American punk band to become as influential as Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirt and Tre' Cool. Their raw talent which comprises of pop vocals and three-four chord based riffs are as catchy as the next. Coming only second to Pearl Jam in terms of influence from the 90's, Green Day are the source of American Punk. Born and Raised in Berkley, California, childhool friends, Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirt formed their first band, Sweet Children, in Rodeo, California when they were just 14 years of age. By 1989, the band added drummer, Al Sobrante and changed it's name to Green Day. That year, the band independently released its first EP, 1,000 Hours, which was well-received in the California hardcore punk scene. Soon, the band had caught the attention of a local record label, lookout. They immediately sign Green Day. Green Day's first album, 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour, was released later that year. Shortly after its release, the band replaced Sobrante with Tre Cool (born Frank Edwin Wright, III); Cool became the band's permanent drummer. In 1992, the bands, second album, Kerplunk had only gained the band more loyalty from the ever-growing underground punk scene. This led Green Day to attract major label record labels such as Reprise, who eventually contracted them, producing their third and most popular album, Dookie in 1994. What most people don't know, is that Basket Case was not their first single from the album, Longview was. Basket Case eventually stayed in the American Modern Rock Charts for 5 weeks debuting at #1. At the end of the summer, the band stole the show at Woodstock '94, which helped the sales of Dookie increase. By the time the fourth single, "When I Come Around," began its seven-week stay at number one on the modern rock charts in early 1995, Dookie had sold over five million copies in the U.S. alone; it would eventually top eight million in America, selling over ten million copies internationally. Dookie also won the 1994 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance. Following on from the massive success of Dookie, Isomiac was released in the fall of 1995, debuting, once again at number one with the single J.A.R, a soundtrack to the film Angus. Insomniac performed well initially, entering the U.S. charts at number two, and selling over two million copies by the spring of 1996, yet none of its singles -- including the radio favorite "Brain Stew/Jaded" -- were as popular as those from Dookie. In the spring of 1996, Green Day abruptly canceled a European tour, claiming exhaustion. Following the cancellation, the band spent the rest of the year resting and writing new material, issuing Nimrod in late 1997. Their long-awaited follow-up, Warning, was released three years later. The deal with American Idiot: It was a new album full of original material. The band previously wrote some originals, however due to theft, Green Day stopped trying and eventually came up with American Idiot in September 21st of 2004, last year. |
