The new Skate Canada logo says it all: figure skating is about passion, spirit, and triumph.

Pair skating is quite possibly the world's most beautiful -- and dangerous -- sport. To truly enjoy pair skating involves a certain level of understanding. The powerful lifts and throws coupled with a grace and elegance beyond words is what makes pairs skating what it is. To see two people blend together and become one in a stunning display of musicality and artistry is why I love pair skating, but some like the technical power; some like the unique interaction between two people as they skate together; some like the inspirational stories that are often found behind the frilly costumes and pretty smiles. Some like the feeling of having their heart stop for a moment when their favourite team pushes the boundaries just one more time and finally reach the ultimate goal.

Whatever your reason for loving pair skating, I hope you like my page!

When asked to choose one team that embodies the definition of pair skating, immediately the names Gordeeva and Grinkov come to mind. They were unmatched and probably will remain as so. But in their beautiful legacy they left, not only, the cherished memories, but also a standard that was never again brought up in competition until just recently.
Russia's Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze were labeled as the next Gordeeva and Grinkov while Canada's Jamie Sale and David Pelletier brought, to the ice, a natural chemistry that many have recognized as yet another echo of the legendary Katia and Sergei.
The future seems limitless for both of these young teams and it can be said with a wise amount of certainty that Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze and Sale & Pelletier will be dominant teams up until the 2002 Olympics, giving the world a rivalry that will add even more excitement to an already action-packed sport...
