No Parking in a Nutshell No Parking is a from-the-ground-up indie music project started by Bambam Alegre (harmonic guitars and vocal duties), Norman Arpon (lead guitars), Jeff Chavez (drums/percussions) and Love Lomibao (bass) on November 25, 2005. Their sound is flavored with influences that have brewed the Pinoy rock scene over the past few years, using each and every influence to try to disappoint expected forms.
The name of the band was suggested by their speedster
manager––the lovable and loving Ys––when they
started late 2005 as junior college
students from UP Diliman [Bambam, Love], UE Manila
[Norman], and PUP Sta. Mesa [Jeffrey]. The
former high school classmates thought free publicity materials from MMDA
and uber-protective residents were too sexy to ignore.
And so the signs fell into place:
band concepts,
goals etc.
Soon after, they landed a gig at their own turf at the UP College of Mass Communication sharing the backstage with Imago, Pupil, 6cyclemind and Kjwan. The band has graced
several campus events
and bar gigs since then.
In the
highways of the romantic, the introspective, and the
critically aware, No Parking wants to blaze trails
perpetually. Because parking is always costly.

Everyday he moves
where the wind takes him; a free spirit with a wild
imagination and Barney-esque congeniality, doing
three-note hums when no one is around. In his younger
years in high school together with his bandmates, he'd
often live up to his initials and be the battery of the
group's activities... the energizer bunny variety. He
has always believed that words are willing servants for
the willing wordsmith.
He'd
conjure a
series of fast-paced ad-libs with relative ease and with a certain cockiness only
years of mastery could bring. It's a cockiness
you'd be surprised he has. But
he is as adventurous and mischievous as the likes of
Huck Finn, something Bambam may attest after
growing up together as neighbors for a decade
and a half. As his wisdom grew over the years, his
naughtiness may have translated to other things.
No one dared mess
with him when they were younger,
probably by virtue of his brute
strength. And no one would really mess with him
anyway, as his thoughts and actions are the very
reflection of a calm lake. A quiet and cheerful chap with
an occasional playful twist, he was brought in front of a drum set three years
ago by their regular weekend
musical worships.
His
name always elicits curiosity; his bandmates don't even
call him on a first-name basis when they are out in the
streets. Gifted with the knack to learn easily, he
approaches things that come his way with such
wide-eyed passion that reflects in the way
he plays the bass. He is as nifty as it gets, with his
nose for business opportunities. He has kept his hair
long for so many years already that his bandmates would
be glad to show people a picture of him in first year
high school sporting a clean head. -profiles: a.a.a.a.
