[ Suggestions based on personal experiences or ideas for using local resources ( like teaching aids from waste-material, experimenting at home using commonly available items etc.) which have been actually tried by you or others in the class-room ]

Use the (perfectly) circular 'disc' extracted from the inside of a damaged floppies to teach the concepts concerning circle ( each student can have one ! ) e.g.
    *     mark a spot on the rim and roll it over a line drawn on the board to complete 10 rotations. Measure the distance covered. Use it to prove the relation between circumference of a circle and the radius.
    *     prove the congruency of two circles using two of the discs
    *     use it to find area of a circular ring ( as there is a circular hole in the centre ) etc.
Note:   Let the children play with the disk and make their own observations; they may even cut it to understand the concepts of   "sector", "major and minor segment'. "equality of arcs" etc.)
