Shelter Services

Our facility offers a 45-day residential program for women and their children who are leaving an abusive home. We provide shelter, food, clothing, personal care items, etc. Our capacity is 26 women and children for residential services. We provide linens and have laundry equipment for your use. You are encouraged to bring personal belongings; however, due to limited space available, we cannot accommodate furniture.

Counseling

We offer group and individual counseling for women and children. This service is available to our residential as well as our non-residential clients. See group schedule and contact us about joining a group or for individual sessions. Groups are also available to assist with parenting skills, life skills, and job skills. Art therapy, free movement, and quilting sessions are starting in February, 2003.

Legal Information and Advocacy

We offer information on Temporary Restraining Orders (TRO's) and assist in their filing for qualified individuals. Individuals have to be victims of domestic violence to qualify. There is no charge for this service and there is no charge to file the petition. An attorney from Legal Aid will be available to represent you in court and an advocate from our staff will accompany you to the hearing if you so desire and someone is available. For further information on legal issues, contact www.LPOR.org. Forms may also be downloaded from this site.

Referrals

This agency makes referrals to appropriate agencies for rental and utility assistance, schools, counselors for evaluations, and any other organizations for help needed by our clients.

This service is available to residential and non-residential clients. All clients are assigned a Counselor/Advocate who offers case management, advocacy, and referral services. These services include assistance in applying for financial assistance, locating affordable housing, needed transportation, child care, employment opportunities, and other community based services.

All services are offered free of charge and are confidential.
