| The Azotochtli, WereArmadillos of prehistoric times, were once impressive and respected creatures among the changers. Created to guard the Caerns of the Garou while they went about the business of 'tending' the humans, these creatures were docile and non-combatative - until trouble brewed! Children of the Moon and Stars, Luna and Helios blessed them with gifts, but along with it the curse of pain from gold and silver. |

| From Helios they received an odd gift, that of Leprosy. A deadly disease that can make an enemy's skin rot and fall off his body with a mere touch from the Azotochtli. Luna gave them heightened senses, all except eyesight, for she knows that the eyes can deceive, but the ears, nose, touch and mostly the heart can descern the truth more fully. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| In the days before the War of Rage, the gentle WereMadillo had very little to challenge them. They lived peacefully within their burrows surrounding the Caern, dining on insects and grubs, communing with Mother Earth and learning her secrets. So in tune were they, that they would know the approaching steps of any of the Caern members and the mood they were in that day! But as unfrightening as they may seem in peace, even more fearful were they when required to defend their homes! |

| Normally, a WereMadillo in its breed or dasypid form, would stand from 3-4 meters long and 1.5 meters tall, sometimes weighing in at a ton! In homid, a form they rarely took, they stood as normal humans. In crinos, the armored defencdrs stood 4-5 meters tall, with razor sharp claws, impenetrable hide and a deadly tail with spikes that could pierce solid steel! Never did they attack out of anger or greed, but only when all other possibilities had been explored would they show their might. It was this humility that cost them dearly when the Garou went mad. The Werewolves came to the Azotochtli asking, then commanding that they side with them against the others, but they would have nothing to do with it, refusing to take arms against their fellow changers. For their loyalty they were slaughtered relentlessly, hiding in their burrows until the garou lost interest and in the process, becoming the tiny timid creatures found on earth in modern times. Scattered as they were across the globe, they found greatest refuge in the deserts of North America and the jungles of South America. Unfortunately most of the history and knowldge of the breed has been lost, for the armadillo is still a favorite meal for the wolf, and coyote .. and great cats, and the true blood was running thin. Until... the spring of 2001, when in a cozy burrow in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, four young true bloods were born. But with the hazards of their young lives, only one survived. | ||||||||||||||||||||
