MIND FUCK
There is no difference
Between the thunderous slap
Of a ruler on hands,
Silencing a language
An idea
A soul
And you behind closed doors
Making decisions
That will succeed in
Quieting a community
A mind
A spirit
Why do you do it, anyway?
Is it out of anger
Years of enduring your own oppression
Now it’s time to turn the table?
Or is it out of fear
That if you don’t play your cards right
You won’t stay in the game?
Is it blissful ignorance
(but it couldn’t be look at us making demands on you)
You challenge us to learn
Yet you fail to teach.
2001
OPPRESSIVE AUTHORITY
The climb up to the top
Of your ivory tower
Was it long, was it hard
When and how did you
Become inhuman?
When did money become
More valuable
Than the minds of students
When did status Become a priority
Over the hearts of the students
In your attempt to speak
Only in politically correct terms
You forgot how to
Talk like a person
Is it really so easy
Up there on your high horse
To watch someone
On the brink of tears And (pretend?) not care?
Surrounded by others
Who indulge in your charade
It must be easy to believe
That you're making the right choices
When you're really destroying
The soul of human beings
Don't you remember
Those days when you knew
You were right And someone heartless
Wouldn't hear you out?
You've crossed over.
