Opportunities for Deaf Canadian Women! / Opportunities pour les Canadiennes sourdes!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Leanne Gallant and I am from Halifax, NS. I will be working with the Canadian Association of the Deaf as a Project Coordinator for a project entitled “Deaf Women Leadership” I am thrilled for this opportunity to meet and work with Deaf Women across Canada!

This project involves providing leadership training and mentorship opportunities to Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing women across Canada so they can participate and play a leadership role in their respective communities. It will also establish a sustainable network of Deaf women from various backgrounds to share experiences, issues of concerns, leadership and community development expertise.

We are having a conference for 50 women from across Canada. Twenty-five experienced women will act as mentors, providing their support and expertise to twenty-five Deaf women participants. These women will then go back to their communities to help foster growth. They will help women build confidence and increase their self-esteem, encourage them to become involved in their communities, and to fully participate in their community.

If you are interested in being a part of this exciting project as a participant or mentor, or if you would like to receive more information and updated news regarding this project; please contact me at [email protected] . Please see the attachment included for opportunities for Canadian women to apply and participate in this conference.

Best regards,

Leanne Gallant
