BACK TO "my NIGHTMARE"
Ah here I am mid-direction on the first scenes to shoot on Day 3 (August 22nd 2004), script in hand too.

Gotta love the cheesy grin.
Here's Emma awaiting direction on set in "Wooded Area # 1". She plays the killer in the movie, I know what you might be thinking - she looks sweet and innocent doesn't she?

Well, let's just say you don't wanna cross this one as she certainly put across a good performance as a psychopath!
"Wooded Area #1"

Along this stretch I've had some intense strangulation and and rather involved hatchet killing action.

It looks picture perfect now, but when the blood is flowing and the insects are all biting you you to death it's a whole other place.
Leading man Gareth apparently explaining to Emma how to operate his digital camera...personally I had another interpretation of this image, but oh well!

As you can see he get's somewhat bloody in this movie...but this is him clean and at the beginning of a filming session!

And you've gotta love a 6ft skin head who does Jujitsu getting beaten up and slaughtered by the 5ft 4 girl next door!
Shooting the very first shot of Day 3.

An extreme close up (ECU) on Emma's wild eyes as her character contemplates her love of murder and what she's going to do next to poor old Knoxy boy.
The rather cool blood mix I used for the film splattered across the ground after one of the early shots on Day 3.

The shot prior to this scene of violent leaves involved Emma hacking into the ground beside my head with the hatchet as I filmed her and as Gareth squirted blood into the air after every hit.

I will certainly remove the audio of that shot though - it sounds as if Emma's victim is farting everytime he's hacked into, thanks to the bottle of blood!
Here we are in "Wooded Area #2" about to shoot the revenge sequence in which Gareth attempts to get one over on his killer.

As any good Director should do, I am going through the next couple of shots with my actors...but don't ask me why I'm standing like that, not even I know that!
My two great actors.

Gareth (or my very own Bruce Campbell as I put it) put up with getting absolutely soaked in fake blood as well as lying on the floor with minimal fuss as I got quality extreme long shots of his 'dead body'...all the time he was being sucked dry my mosquitos.

Emma as my femme fatale. When she got into the role it got pretty scary, she'd done Drama at High School and turned out to be a really good psychopath!

Here they both are right after filming Gareth's final demise at the end of the film...I bet the fishermen nearby wondered what on earth was happening.
"Farm Area #2"

This is where 'the driver' (played by Gareth) encounters a house of horrors kind of situation and some grizzly visions of himself.

This is in fact an out-of-use cattle shed, complete with cow shit floors in the main building as well as animal carcasses shredded by Foxes and finally, a nice rat infestation.

Apart from that it'd be a great place to live, don't you think?
Still at the barn-of-horrors, this is the dirt road leading up the side of the buildings.

A peaceful scene only shattered by the sounds of things that go bump in the...er...day.
Now at the second area of "Wooded Area # 2" or "WA2T" as I referred to it - the "T" standing for "tree" by the way.

This is the site of a nice and grizzly scene where Gareth is attacked and left in quite a state.

Day 2 of filming was a laugh and a half here alright. By the end of it, Gareth was covered to the point of dripping with fake blood, but the shots looked fantastic!
The trees high overhead blocking out the brilliant sunshine we've been having recently (in between the torrential downpours of course).

Weather-wise we were actually quite lucky when shooting. Even Day 3 which was set to be heavy rain ended up being nice and sunny! I had some luck and the weather decided to slow down all day so that I had enough time to get the required shots done before it started raining and got to dark to film.

Despite all the insects and the cow shit everywhere, Llangarron is actually quite scenic.
The sick ass lake near the famous trio-tree from Wooded Area # 2.

Gareth certainly had a love for this bit, he was seemingly in love with this dead tree sticking out of the stagnant water.

Although from here it looks rank, it's actually quite pretty when seen in it's entirety. Of course, that's without all the green sludge and dead trees lying around of course.
