Dog Faced Boy

Dog Faced Boy is a sad song, but a great one nonetheless. Written by Jon Fishman about lost love, the song is very close to Jon because it is mostly about a girl he had a relationship with. On the rough side of phishtory, the magazines misinterpreted some of the lyrics, and so it was beleived as written until a June 2000 show when the band told the audience like it is. The Pharmer's siad "apparently, Fishman cries everytime he hears this song."
The song itself is short, so it has not gone through any changes. It has been played acoustic before, most of them in its debut year of 1994. Before its first show, whic was April 14th in NYC, it was released on Hoist. Post 1994, the song lost its popularity and was pushed off the common's list. To find a live version of this song, you'll need to start trading a lot, because there are no more than around 50 shows with this song.

I can't spare a moment for the dog faced boy
I won't lend another hand to theworm girl of Hanoi
Don't deplete my oxygen for the guy who's turning blue
But ask me, and I'll do anything for you

Whenever I think of you it only makes me feel sad
Whenever I think of you, the best friend I ever had...
Before I gave it up all for nothing
Well, I lied and I cheated

And it made me feel bad
It made me feel guilty for not being true
Oh the months I spend trying for a way to explain
In the end all I could do as turn my head in shame
Whenever I think of you it only makes me feel sad
Because you deserve better and once I was it
But somehow my good intentions just got up and git
