Bio
Creeper Lagoon started out as the solo project of Sharky Laguana. He released some cassettes and a 7" (see discography section) before joining up with Ian Sefchick, a friend of his from their school days in Cincinnati. They formed a band, which first consisted of Bush Bringleman on bass, Patrick Magnan on drums, with Sharky and Ian playing guitar and Ian taking lead vocals. Bush was replaced by Geoffrey Chisholm and they released a self-titled EP on Dogday Records. At this point Patrick left the band and David Kostiner joined on drums. Most of the songs from the EP were then included on their first full-length CD "I Become Small and Go", released on the Dust Brothers label, Nickelbag in 1998. Dreamworks Records signed them and they released another EP (now with Dan Carr on bass instead of Geoffrey) and then the full-length "Take Back the Universe and Give Me Yesterday". This was the CD that brought them somewhat into the spotlight. I first heard of Creeper Lagoon when I saw their "Wrecking Ball" video on MTV2.
Unfortunately, after a long tour, the band amicably broke up. Sharky is continuing to make music under the Creeper Lagoon name, since it was originally his solo project. He has a new group of musicians now, which consist of Jason Bassler on drums, Miles Tuffli on guitar and Rachel Lastimosa on bass. They released an EP on Arena Rock Records, entitled "Remember the Future" and just released a full-length album on Neglektra called "Long Dry Cold". They also have a side project(s) called We Never Landed on the Moon and played a show in SF in November 2002. And Miles is also in a band called Evacuee. And Jason is in Philipdolphin.
For those wondering about the ex-Creepers, Patrick is apparently working on a rap album. Dan toured with Preston School of Industry and John Vanderslice and is now with Court and Spark. Ian and Dave produced the new EP by the SF band, One Light Out. Ian was in a band called On the Speakers, but they broke up. Check out the OTS section of this website.
So now that you've finished reading this, go buy all their albums!
