This Lesson Plan represents a basic outline of what will be covered during the Twenty Third day.  As with any lesson, this is a work in progress and will be altered as need arises.  All ideas present come from many years of study as a college student and working professional, any thoughts expressed here came from my brain and the knowledge I have gained.

Advanced Competencies addressed here are:
10.1 Use the Computer Skills Cirriculum to identify what students should know and be able to do.
This lesson plan was created with computer competencies in mind.
In order to support this lesson I as a teacher must have knowledge of
2.0 Set up, Maintenance and Trouble shooting.
8.3 setting up and operating a videocassette player and TV monitor.
8.8 consumer issues including identification of available media communication resources.

9.1  Use a linear multimedia presentation

10.2 Use school television resources that support the curriculum.

In this unit I am using the video tape, The Odyssey.
Available on all formats
This is a small screen adaptation of The Odyssey by Homer, that the critics have given 5 stars.  I have personally seen the video and liked it.  The only issueparents may have is one scene where Odysseus is bathing and Calypso showsskin, it appears she is wearing nothing but they cover her with the bathtub,so you can not see anything..  Otherwise, I found it to be an excellent movie.

10.4 Review the Goals of the NC Computer Skills Curriculum
See above computer competencies for this lesson plan.
10.6 Locate, evaluate and select appropriate teaching/learning resourcesand curriculum materials for the content area and target audience, including computer based products, videotapes and discs, local experts, primary documentsand artifacts, texts, reference books, literature, and other print sources.
In this lesson I used a video tape of the Odyssey shown above.

Bibliography:   I am using this textbook in my unit plan.  Some ideas used in my lesson plans sprung from notes in the teachers edition.
Bulkot, M. R. (Book ed.).(2000).  Elements of Literature.  Austin:  Holt, Rinehart and Winston.

Ideas for the computer competencies came from this web site.
