...with the full intention of checking out four or five different venues (but due to financially-constraining cover charges everywhere - don't artists and venue owners realize the power of the press, poverty-stricken as we are?), we decided to stay put at Chicago's, where the Bottle Devils had secured a weekend gig (apart from their regular Thursday night there), and my friend (and I) couldn't get enough of them!  At one point in the evening I was beginning to realize what it must feel like to be "swarmed"!

If
Paul Martin could be considered the "Prime Minister of Rock 'n' Roll", then Gus Papas (lead guitar, lead vocals, slide ashtray(s) and guitar strap!) could certainly be considered the "King of Rock 'n' Roll" - move over, Mr. Baldry!  To paraphrase Gus, "While Chicago's is the home of the blues in Toronto, we like to shake it up a bit with some happy, happy songs!"  Henry Diclemente has got to be the most energetic and enthusiastic drummer I've ever seen, and Joe MacLeod ("The Friendly Scot") is now handling bass duties to complete this fantastic trio of musicians!  I'm eagerly awaiting a showcase of original songs from these guys!
