| The elves | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| No fantasy world is complete without at least one type of elves. Traditional or otherwise. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Elves are a common term for four different races. The drow, the Zion, the forest and the plains. They are more closely related to each other than to the other races and are said to have been the first creatures, along with the mermaids, to have been created. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Category: Light creature; are likely to die if bitten by a dark creature. Creatures who can have offspring with elves: Humans, kelpies, vampires (exceptionally rare due to circumstances), werewolves (see above), a few demons, Acceptance in society: Depends on the area and often the race. Together elves outnumber humans, however they are treated differently depending on race. Those close to openings to the Underdark harbor a great hatred for the drow, those close to the Zion elves often fear them and those who have Zion elven areas within their country often hate them. Elves of the plains are considered a nuisiance at times, but more often than not accepted as if they were humans (depends greatly on the city and if the elves of the plains have a history of passing through it or not). Forest elves are the most accepted race of elves, treated as if they were human most of the time. Forest elves and elves of the plain are often confused as they speak basically the same language and look like each other, but as both are generally peaceful people rarely care which race out of the two an elf is. Other: Elven magic works different than that of humans, mainly because the elves' magic is so more powerful. It is based on emotions and only the more complex spells require any words to be uttered. Elves are also immune to memory charms. |

| A peaceful, nomad elven race with a natural need to wander. Caring for each other is the most important thing in their society. Their language is closely related to the common elven, but have some differences normally classified as dialect. Katherine Kerr is to blame for these. |

| A warlike elven race who live in the Underdark. Concepts such as trust and love has no place in their society. They have a separate language. Stolen from whoever made them because I fell in love with the entire race. |
A warlike elven race who live in the mountains. Not as fierce as the drow, yet hated by most other races. Faith and obedience dominate their lives. They too have a separate language, but share some words with the common elven tongue. Original creation. |
A relatively peaceful elven race who have a country of their own, yet are often found living outside it. Relation to nature and faith are important to them. Their language is refered to as common elven. Think altered standard elf. |

| Contact with other elves: Very little contact with any race outside of the mountains, isolated race. Only real contact is that with their slaves. Occasionally has peaceful encounters with the elves of the plains. Little to no experience with the drow. |

| Contact with other elves: Rare, and as good as always bloody. Make no distinction between the other elven races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Otherness: Harsh society, far more bloody in nature than the Zion elves. They are of the belief that it is their faith to conquer all other races. Religion is very important. Hold slaves. |

| Otherness: Strict society where it is accepted that a minority suffers for the sake of the majority. They keep to the mountains and are considered the lone wolves of the elven kind. They look upon all other races (elven or otherwise) as inferior but rarely go into war with them as they have no interest in leaving the mountains. Deeply religious as a general rule and as good as all Zion elves know how to fight. Nobles and high ranking members of the clergy and army are allowed to hold slaves. |
Otherness: They have no land of thier own and live as nomads. Often experience difficulties should they ever attempt to settle down. They do not marry. Song is important while war and fighting is generally looked upon as barbaric. They do not hold slaves. The most peaceful of the elven races. |
