“So that's where you've been going every night,” Chris
said.
“Just shut up, all right. You have no clue what you're talking about,” Justin
said in a serious voice.
“Don't give me that. I'm your best friend and I know exactly what I'm talking
about. All those nights you left, you've been with her. Besides you kissed
her and you wouldn't have done that if you didn't have feelings for her.”
“How did you know I kissed her?” he asked.
“I saw you,” Chris replied.
“What? You were spying on me?” Justin asked in disbelief.
“Of course not. I just happened not to be tired so I went for a walk and
saw you. Why can't you just admit you like her?”
“Fine,” Justin said. "I like her. I like her a lot. The kiss we had was wrong,
but if I could I wouldn't change a thing. When we kissed I didn't think of
Claire or right or wrong, just Dasia. Every detail of the kiss still runs
through my mind.”
“What kind of lip gloss was she wearing?”
“What?”
“C'mon, no girl leaves her home without some kind of lip gloss on.”
“Strawberry, but that's not the point. Will you follow along?”
“Go on, I'm listening.”
“Tell me what to do!”
“Do you love Claire?”
“I don't know.”
“If you did, you'd know by now, so you don't. You already know what I would
do.”
“Give up years of your life for a girl you met a week ago?”
“If she had a rack like that? No doubt,” Chris said winking at Justin.
Justin took the pillow from under Chris' head and hit him with it. “I'll
see you later.” He left to go back snow boarding.

The next four days passed too quickly in everyone's opinion. Everything Chris
had said stayed in Justin's mind. He and Dasia still hadn't told anyone,
not even Claire, but planned on to let everyone know today.
“Is Claire there?”
“Yes, I'll go get her,” spoke a man's voice.
“Hello?”
“Hi Claire. Who answered your phone?”
“Oh, that's the tennis coach.”
“Why is he answering your phone?”
“I told him to since I was in the kitchen. So when are you getting back?”
she asked, changing the subject.
“In five days.”
“I can't wait to see you. Do you want me to pick you up at the airport or
do you want to go out after?”
“Actually I called to talk about that. It would be better if you didn't pick
me up.” His voice softened.
“I don't understand what you mean.”
“This is really hard so bare with me.”
“Justin what are you saying?” she said confused.
“We've been together for two years and that means a lot to me but I can't
be in this relationship anymore.”
“Are you breaking up with me?”
“Claire I am so sorry but this is the right decision for me.” It was killing
him to hurt her like this. “Claire? Are you there?”
No response, just a dial tone. He hung up the phone and put his head in his
hands.
“Yo Justin, are you ready to go?” Chris asked running into the room.
“I see your ankle has healed quickly,” Justin said standing up.
“Yeah well....What's wrong with you?”
“I told Claire.”
“You told Claire what?”
“What do you think I told her? I told her it's over.”
“How did she take it?”
“I don't know, she hung up on me.”
“Are you going to tell the other guys now?”
“Better get it over with.”
“Don't worry, they'll be cool about it,” Chris said walking out of the room.
~~~
The guys were not as cool with it as Justin had hoped. Lance was furious
and left the room. He couldn't believe that Justin would just cheat on Claire
and break up his wedding for a girl he met seven days ago. Joey was pretty
cool about it. He felt like it was none of his business what Justin did.
JC on the other hand wasn't mad he left Claire, but he didn't think Justin
had thought it through. There was no way he knew enough about Dasia to make
a good decision about calling off his wedding.
Dasia telling Kristi and Tiffany went about the same way. Tiffany's opinion
was near Lance's. Dasia knew Justin was engaged but went after him anyways.
Of course Kristi's views matched JC's. Kristi figured it was just flirting
and wouldn't lead to more, but a wedding broken and things had become much
more serious.
They heard a knock at the door that interrupted the conversation. “Hey Lance
want to come in?” Tiffany asked.
“I was wondering if you wanted to go for a walk and grab something to eat,”
he said.
“Let me go get my jacket.” She was thankful for the break, she hated arguing.
Everyone cooled down eventually and tried to pretend it didn't happen. The
rest of the trip tensions was all around. It got better once the guys had
left.
Daisa, Kristi, and Tiffany had time to talk just the three of them. Kristi
decided she would move to Florida, but there as so much she needed to work
out in New York. She didn't really know where she'd go but the closer to
JC the better.
She hadn't told him yet. She wanted it to be a surprise. All he knew is they
would visit each other as much as possible, and call everyday.
