Love Happens - Chapter Eight

“You got back to the room later than usual last night,” Tiffany said over breakfast.

“That's because she was down there with Justin,” Kristi said.

Dasia nearly choked on her hash browns. “I don't know what you're talking about. I went down there to write.”

“Don't play dumb with me. JC told me Justin goes down there every night and it's the same time you always go down there. So you getting any?”

“Oh my God, you're crazy!” Dasia laughed. “Okay yes, he'd down there, but we only talk.”

“Sure. Kristi was just getting ice with JC, the next thing you know, they're on the couch kissing.” Tiffany smiled.

“What are you talking about? I never kissing Justin, who told you that? We only talked all night!”

“Geez girl calm down. Nobody said anything, it was just a joke. But you really did kiss him, didn't you? You have that look on your face you get when you're hiding something.”

“Just drop it. Nothing happened. I don't want to talk about it anymore.”

“What's your problem? We are your best friends, and you're keeping secrets from us?” Tiffany asked, hurt shown on her face.

“He's engaged, that's my problem,” she said with a sigh.

“You like really like him, don't you?”

“Last night we were talking about destiny and all of that junk you had brought up, and I blurted out he doesn't belong with Claire. At first I thought he was going to kill me, but then he kissed me.”

“You're kidding!” Kristi exclaimed.

“What did you do?”

“I tired telling him it was wrong but I couldn't. I mean it didn't feel wrong, actually it felt perfect. I have no clue what I'm going to do.”

“That's a pretty bad situation. I don't know what to do,” Kristi said. She was happy Dasia had finally found happiness, but as pointed out earlier, he is taken. She had mixed feelings whether or not to tell JC. He had already said they were getting too close and he wouldn't be happy about this, so it was a good for him not to find about this just yet.

Besides, it was just a kiss, nothing would probably come of it.

“Don't touch it!” Chris yelled. “I can't keep going, it hurts too much.”

“What the hell did he do to himself?” Lance questioned.

“All I said was I bet I could get those chicks number and he said not if he got to them first, and he took off, but I think he twisted his ankle or something,” Joey said.

“Great well he needs to go back to the cabin so he doesn't mess anything else up,” Lance suggested.

“I'll take him back, I have to call Claire anyway,” Justin said. “Let's go clumsy.” He helped Chris up and led him back to the lodge. “If it hurts that bad then sit down and shut up.”

“Aren't you going to fluff my pillows or make me some tea so I get better?” Chris said, giving him a sad look.

“No I'm going to call my fiancée then go back out, and if you don't shut up, I'll make you talk to her.”

“Oh God, I'll stop. Anything but her!” he said, hiding under his covers.

“Chris, what is it you have against her?”

“I have nothing against her, and if anything of mine rubs against her, shoot me! That woman is the devil. You should get out while you have the time. Dasia's pretty hot, why don't you marry her instead?”

Flashbacks of his kiss with Dasia went through Justin's mind. He had no clue why he had done what he did, but he liked it. What she had said about Claire wouldn't leave his mind. Maybe she was right and Claire was completely wrong for him.

He was so confused and just wanted to hear Claire's voice.

“Hello?”

“Hey, it's Justin.”

“Oh umm hi, how are you?”

“I'm just great now that I'm talking to you. How are you?”

“Ah that's so sweet. I'm good, just tired from tennis practice. Are you having fun skiing? You guys aren't causing trouble, are you?”

“Of course not. Well, maybe Chris. Skiing is awesome, I'm getting really good. Well I can stand up for more then five seconds without falling as long as I don't move. How is tennis going for you?”

“Tennis is terrific. I have practice in a couple of minutes so I better go.”

“Okay, but I thought you just got back, and who is that with you?”

“That's um, no one. Just my instructor, and I did just get back but I am going to practice some more. Love you Justin.”

“Yeah, I love you Dasia. I mean Claire,” Justin said, correcting himself.

Claire wasn’t really paying attention and hung up, but Chris had definitely heard him
