Love Happens - Chapter Twelve

Once she was out of sight, she ran.

Her eyes were so clouded with tears, she didn't know where she was going, but she wanted to be anywhere but there. She felt like her heart was just ripped out. All the time they spent together and every time he said he loved her ran through her mind.

‘Maybe it was bound to happen and I should have expected it,’ she thought to herself.

It was getting really late but she want to go home. She was afraid of who might be there. Kristi's date with JC had to have ended long ago and they were probably watching movies.

‘They all knew,’ she cried. ‘Everyone one of them knew he was going to do this and were just waiting to see me fall.’ Her body was over run with emotions.

~~~
“I'm really worried! I paged her ten minutes but she won't call back.”
“She's hurting and just wants to be alone,” Joey said, trying to comfort Kristi. Justin had told everyone what happened before he went on his date with Claire. Joey and Chris went to cheer her up but she hadn't come back. “Call her on her cell,” Joey suggested.
“She got a new one yesterday and I don't remember the number.”
“Well maybe she wrote the number down somewhere. Where does she usually leave you messages?”
“Umm on the fridge?” Kristi felt like a moron for not thinking about that four hours ago. They found the numbed and Kristi grabbed the phone to call.
~~~

‘God who could it be now.’ Dasia didn't really want to answer. She was all cried out and didn't thinking talking would help. She figured it had to be Kristi.

“Hello Kristi.”

“Do you have any idea what time it is?” Kristi didn't mean it to come off as anger, she was just worried and wanted Dasia home where it was safe.

“I don't need another argument with you or a ‘I told you so’ conversation. I just had one of the worst days of my life. The guy I love and thought loved me, dumped me. I'm not only in pain, but I'm humiliated.”

She started sobbing again and didn't want Kristi to hear so she hung up.

‘Great I must look like a mess. I feel like such an idiot. I'm at some park crying at one-forty five in the morning while it rains. How much worse can my life get?’

Her phone started ringing again. She could barely speak when she answered this time. “Yes?”

“Dasia, where are you? I'm worried,” Joey said.

“Well you're the only one,” she said harshly.

“You know that's not true. Everyone is over here, please come home.”

“I can't. I just need sometime to myself.”

“You've got to come home sometime to sleep,” he said in a matter of fact tone.

“I'm not in the mood to see anyone. I'll just stay at the closest hotel.”

“What hotel is it?”

“I'm not sure. Actually I'm not sure where I am. All I know is I'm at a park,” she said looking around.

“There's got to be a sigh somewhere, just look.”

“Washington.”

“Washington park? That's one hour driving! How did you get there?”

“I ran, I guess. Do you know any close hotels?”

“No but when I was there a while back I remember a Denny's down the street. Why don't you go and get something to eat and we'll come to get you.”

“No! I told you already I don't want to see everyone. I can't take any ‘I told you so's’ right now.”

“Dasia, I just want to make sure you're okay. Here's the deal. Go to Denny's to get something to eat and just me will come. You can stay at my house for as long as you want.”

“I don't want to be an inconvenience.”

“It's not a problem, just agree. Alright?”

“Are you still at my house?”

“Yeah.”

“Will you grab me something to change into? I'm soaking wet,” she said with a small laugh.
